Commentary — 15 June 2011

Yes, yes, Mo’Kelly has heard about and seen the video.  The video where a woman comes up from the audience and hands Bishop Long a stack of money so thick it is barely able to fit in the woman’s hands.

No, Mo’Kelly isn’t offended.  Bishop Long is a prosperity preacher.  This is what he does and who he is in a ministerial sense.  Salvation and financial solvency go hand-in-hand in such ministries.

But Mo’Kelly has some simple questions…

1.  Who has a stack of money like that in 2011?  You can’t get it from an ATM and you surely don’t leave a bank in Atlanta with it or you will get jacked.  A check wasn’t good enough?

2. Why wasn’t the woman acknowledged by name?  Every church Mo’Kelly can think of…if you interrupt the service/sermon to drop thousands and thousands of dollars (supposedly) into the minister’s hands…wouldn’t he at least acknowledge you by name or make sure the church annotates the name and amount for your tax purposes?

3. And more importantly why couldn’t the woman wait until the offering?  Oh that’s right…she’s a PLANT!

This is the overriding problem with Eddie Long…he thinks we are stupid, most especially his congregation.  As for his remaining parishioners…he may be right.
