Criminal Girls…Alpha Kappa Alpha’s 990 (for 2008)

On page 7 you will find that president Barbara McKinzie REPORTED income/compensation in excess of 300k for JUST 2008.  Mind you…for an “unpaid” position.  Mind you, this is only the REPORTED compensation, the stuff that McKinzie is willing to admit to receiving.  Who knows what the actual number might be.

Who knows what the 2009 actual number might be.  You saw right here two checks totaling half of a million dollars written to her in June of ’09.  There’s another 11 months unaccounted for and we can only speculate.  But according to this document, filed in NOVEMBER of ’09…McKinzie received more than 300k for her “unpaid” position.

Also, take note that on page one, it is stamped “received” by the IRS on November 19, 2009…and the extension request is “dated” August 12, 2009 on page 25 the final page.  Uh, any particular reason it sat for three months (just coincidentally during this litigation) without being filed?

Yes, it takes time and effort to ALLEGEDLY falsify documents.  Some things you just can’t rush.

Also interesting:

Barbara A. McKinzie spent more than 440k on “legal stuff” in 2008  (page 8).

FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!

Other “interesting” stuff

Do the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha know that their QUARTERLY magazine The Ivy Leaf cost more than 800,000 to produce in 2008?!  Yeah right!

800,000!  See page 24.

According to that same page (24), McKinzie’s compensation in 2007 was “supposed” to be $345,000 NOT $375,000

(oh, ok.)

AKA also has a “Housing Expense” of 2.5 MILLION DOLLARS for 2008.  What “house” and who in the hell lives in it?!  Does national headquarters have a mortgage or rent note of $225,000 monthly?! (pg. 10)

(Methinks McKinzie hasn’t (personally) paid a house note in quite some time.)

Alpha Kappa Alpha, you’re either the worst run organization on the face of the planet or you’re getting robbed blind…

…or both.

Oh HELL NO! Like I was always told, people do, what you let them get away with. I hope members who have issues with the Plantiffs going foward on this matter, realize that their Supreme is spending their hard earned cash in a Supreme way! Don't get mad at your sisters who chose to duke it out in court, get mad at your leader for smiling in your face while saying behind your back, "You won't do anything about it."

Being in the NPHC, I will say that I like what the Zetas did with their "special Boule". I like the fact that the Zetas held a conference to make sure that all members were knowledgable about the constitution, rules and procedures, running for office, and parliamentary procedure. I am not saying the AKAs should or have to do this, but their is power in KNOWING YOUR DOCUMENTS so you can bring about change. There are many members in the NPHC who have never even looked over their constitution, aren't familiar with Roberts Rules of Order, and don't know about the their specific rules and procedures.

Mo You have called it!! I said not long ago BAM has had so much time to "weave" a story about the finances that this document at best only reveals part of the real deal. You are right. What was going on for three months!!! I know that the IRS and the FBI are all over SCLC about shady finances..Maybe that's our problem. We are not political enough to be of interest to the Feds..And yes you called it about the 2009 form. That will also not be posted until BAM has established legal citizenship in Dubai.SMH because I just don't get it.

SP…You are so right. Knowledge IS power..Unfortunately too many of my sorors do not want knowledge and/or power..The eight plaintiffs did a remarkable thing by posting legitimate public domain documents for all to read. They did not post any commentary with the documents either. Many have read the documents but too many have not. I also give the Zetas credit for calling a special conference to provide education. It would not work for us. Too many are afraid to even sign their names on a politely written request letter. They would not dare attend an unauthorized conference. Our hope will be July 2010 in St.Louis. Keep reading Mo's blog. Now that the tax form has FINALLY been released wait for the Bambots to start posting a rationale for everything in or not in it. And the struggle continues Sigh…

This tax form has so many glaring shady details, but they are hidden in plain view. Now I am not formally trained in finance, just some experience with being on the Board of a small nonprofit community agency. We had to let our Executive Director go when he tried to give a kickback to one of his friends by "hiding" it in a budget sheet. This form reminds me of that same type of smoke and mirrors. If there is $19 Million allotted for "Boule expenses" then why is St. Louis costing so much? It should be free! And what about the $30,000 "error" noted between $375,000 compensation and $345,000? The 3 month extension gap? Oh what a tangled web is weaved…

Exactly ivy2tuff…Some items were not checked on the Schedule J section of the 990 entitled Compensation Information (page 17 of the pdf). This is supposed to be completed for certain officers, director, trustee, key employees and highest compensated employees. Questions 1a, 1b and 2 were not answered. 1a questions whether individuals listed on the 990 used monies for the following: 1st class or charter travel; travel for companions; tax indemnification and gross-up payments; discretionary spending account; housing allowance or resident for personal use; payments for business use of personal residence; health or social club dues or initiation fees, and; personal services (e.g., maid, chauffer, chef). 1b questions whether the organization follows a written policy regarding payment or reimbursement or provision of the expenses in 1a. The IRS wants an explanation. 2 questions whether the organization require substantiation prior to reimbursing or allowing expenses incurred by all officers, directors, trustees, and the CEO/Executive Director regarding the items in 1a. Boxes in 1a should have been checked.

Yes more than 3/4 of a million dollars spent in 2008 (that we know of) on BAM personally or her personal legal vendettas or to obfuscate financial malfeasance.

THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION DOLLARS…and that's probably on the low side because we can rightfully assume the books are "ALLEGEDLY" cooked.

God only knows how much she was compensated and she spent on legal fees in 2009. Just imagine…

You have to wonder if the "silent majority" of the AKA membership "gets it" just yet. If not, why not? You can also see why Ms. McKinzie forbade them from coming to this website or the Weeping Ivy website. She didn't want them to connect the dots and discover what an absolute crook she truly is. The disturbing piece is that a lot of them took her advice to heart. That would truly be pathetic if we didn't live in a country that allows you to view porn (if that is how you roll) and learn how to make a bomb on line (if you are crazy enough to try). However, you are forbidden to view legal documents and irrefutable proof of the guilt of the individual forbidding you to do so. How jacked up is that. For some of our beloved sisters this will be a true eye opener; for others, there is a logical explanation. My head is spinning and I can't believe educated women could be so gullible. GOD HELP US!

Notyouraverageaka, I hate to say it but some of our sorors can be so dumb! Some folks really drink the BAM-aid and will provide a reasonable explanation for her excesses.

The silent majority will still try to defend this President, out of denial. This woman has been
stealing money from AKA for a mighty long time.
I am speechless! This is why AKA became a job for her. This should become a criminal case!!

Mo, some of us are going to need some crayola drawings and breadcrumbs –

    1. To direct us correctly to guidestar so that we can make heads (or tails) of what we are looking at?

    2. A guide to Jurisdictions for Dummies so that we can understand that the lawsuit in DC being "thrown out" was merely a diversionary tactic and all hope is not yet lost.

I agree that someone's housenote in Alsip IL probably has not been paid (by them) in quite some time.

I also suspect that the fabulous gifts of diamond watches and bracelets were NOT declared as income on the recipient's tax forms.

I do not understand how ANY of them could brag about them while seeking corporate donations for community projects, but then I'm not an AKA.

As to our Special Boule last October, please know that the Establishment tried very very hard to discourage the rank and file from attending, especially since it was convened in a venue in close vicinity to the Atlantic Regional Conference on the same weekend.

A national Blast sent out at the last minute probably backfired causing a boost in registration from older sorors who were curious about what was going down.

Reading the cooments from sorors and the points made by Mo you know that INTELLIGENT people have been following this disaster. It truly bothers me that because of the silent majority we are viewed as either dummies or crooks. That is another part of why I am hell bent on getting to St.Louis. I want to stand with Notyouraverage, Pinkiesup,GoldenSoror and so many others I can't name. These are women of intelligence and integrity who don't want to go down with the dummy Bambots. The world needs to know there are AKAs who are completely against what BAM stands for. Those members who think they can sit this out, better think again. The gaping holes on the 990 back up what the plaintiffs have stated. You MUST be part of the problem or part of the solution. Silence won't cut it!!!

It is my hope 2.5 million dollars was not spent to maintain a building with cobwebs on the door. Expand the picture and see for yourself!! If AKA is spending such large sums to maintain the Corporate Office why is the Directorate wasting resources meeting in exotic vacation resorts or cruising the world to handle the business of the organization?

One does not need to be a CPA to see the glaring holes in the 990 form in an effort to undermine the membership & IRS.

Mo, can you ask the woman at the IRS about these ommissions? How can that agency not follow up when required questions were not answered. I don't think the average Jane or Joe would be able to ignore such questions on a tax form. I will print and send a copy too, but you seem to have a magic way of getting people's attention! This reminds me of the movie "The Firm" when lawyer Mitch had to get the crooks through mail fraud because of their overbilling clients and putting those phony bills in the mail. They had covered their tracks so well on everything else. Those questions on the 2008 tax form were probably not answered by Betty James, et al, on purpose, to escape perjury charges.

I was part of the first groups to tour the new corporate office after a leadership conference in Chicago. I vivdly remember the tour guide who stated that our directorate would have a first class facility for meetings. We as members who had made that vision a reality should be very proud of what our money had accomplished. We would be the envy of the other Greeks because of this building. Now the board spends thousands to travel REGULARLY to exotic locations taking family with them. And the dummy Bambots won't even ask for an explanation!!!I'm sure there are colleges all over the USA hoping the dummies will never tell where their degrees came from

Mo this makes me so sad. I am legacy but I refuse to take my place as a member of AKA until they get it together. The Founders fought for justice yet members sit here and let 1 administration treat them like this? It is a sad day. They even do credit checks! That is another reason why I will not apply for membership I am afraid that my financial information will be used to do lord knows what!
