If you’re new to The Mo’Kelly Report, you don’t know that Mo’Kelly LOVES

“destroy the world” movies…can’t get enough of them. So on the occasion of the release of the movie Skyline, Mo’Kelly had the opportunity to speak briefly with one of its co-stars and star of the long-running television series Scrubs, Donald Faison. He is a cool and naturally humorous guy. And yes, Mo’Kelly will be seeing Skyline first thing on Friday.
Destroy the world!

Mo, I saw Skyline, good "B" Sci Fi movie, although why does the black guy always have to be the first one to go?
I saw it too…I was really, really disappointed. This movie went the way of War of the Worlds…dealing with one small group of people and not the broad picture of the world. The way the movie was advertised I thought we'd get a more broad view of the destruction and the invasion.
Not so much.
And HATED the ending. Absolutely hated it. Perfect for the Si-Fy channel. Not perfect for $12.00
Yep, the ending sucked big-time. I paid $7.25. I was not disappointed as I wasn't expecting much, I mean Eric Balfour, really???
Any true Sci-Fi fan will admit to being pretty forgiving of most science fiction movies so long as the director doesn't make the mistake of thinking that fancy CGI can make up for a lame plotline or in the case of "Skyline", no plot whatsoever!
This movie failed on every level ~ uninteresting characters that the audience really didn't care about / no storyline / no explanation for what was happening or why it was happening / aliens that reminded the audience of "The Matrix", "War of the Worlds", "Cloverfield", and "ID4" / a lame-a** ending that was so awful I actually laughed out loud.
And while Donald Faison's character wasn't the "first" to die from the main group of characters, I was mighty ticked off that he didn't last a bit longer in this movie.
Sci-Fi is about suspending belief to enjoy a "what-if" storyline or scenario ~ but there needs to be some tiny measure of reality for the audience to accept it. The directors of "Skyline" wanted us to believe that a nuclear weapon wasn't enough to destroy or kill the aliens, but yet a gas stove and some fancy boxing would. :-/ And do I really need to mention how the blast wave from the nuclear weapon would have destroyed the apartment building the rag tag group of survivors were holed up in?
Thank goodness the new "Harry Potter" movie will wipe out all memory of "Skyline". 🙂
I agreed with every, single, one of your comments. I can't add to it. I am still trying to figure how and why getting to the water was somehow a "good idea." And if it was dangerous to let the aliens see through the glass and view you…then why in the hell would you spend all of your time in the room with the wall-sized windows?
Talk in the bathroom, hang out in the weight room. Stay in the hallway between the apartments. Just absolute foolishness. And the ending…I have no words.
Oh and speaking of the nuclear blast wave…all nuclear weapons include an EMP which would have disabled all technology for miles…and yes, would've leveled the apartment building in a flash or AT LEAST blown out EVERY WINDOW for 50 square miles.
