Birdman is Back…Yacht and 1.5 Million Dollar WATCH

Mo’Kelly knows what you’re thinking…Birdman probably doesn’t “own” them, he’s just “saying” he owns them.  Either way, it’s official…Birdman is living a lie.  Yes, he won’t be the first hip-hopper to put forth such lies, but some lies are more egregious and damaging than others.  Not all lies are created equal.

Below you will find photos of the yacht and watch…as well as the top hip-hop earners in 2010.  Birdman is nowhere to be found on the list.

Clearly he is spending Lil Wayne’s money and clearly my African-American community is going straight to hell on a non-stop trip.

Mo’Kelly’s point doesn’t change.  Birdman has a right to spend his money as he sees fit (although there may be a question now of whether he’s in fact spending Lil Wayne’s money and not his).  In any event, Mo’Kelly in turn has a right to criticize him every step of the way.  The overriding problem in our community is that we lack standards.  Some things are just inappropriate, inconsiderate and inconsistent with good sense.

“Standards” mean one can both identify and vilify aberrant behavior that wallows below the water level of acceptability.  “Standards” mean you refuse to support such aberrant behavior.  “Standards” mean you do not make excuses for such aberrant behavior.  The moment we as a community stop confusing “cash” with “class,” the sooner we will be on the path to developing standards.  The sooner we stop winning 6 rings with the Chicago Bulls, blowing 122 million for a career and ending up broke like Scottie Pippen…the sooner it will be evident that we’re on the path to developing standards.

ESPN Story HERE.

This behavior is neither admirable nor an anomaly.  Below you will see a list of the top 20 Hip Hop earners for 2010.  Nowhere will you find Birdman’s name.

So AT BEST, Birdman (barring extra-curricular illegal activities) is in the sub 5 million dollar neighborhood.  The Bugatti, the watch and the yacht collectively well exceed 5 million dollars.  Take your pick, purchases or rentals…he’s promoting and promulgating lies and our young people are both helping finance them and are being deluded.  It’s time for us as a community to choose and support standards instead of stereotypes.

If we are tired of the stereotypes and having them used against us, then we must act like we have standards.  It’s not the nice thing to say, but it sure as hell is the truth.
