Why Hasn’t Anyone Remade Space: 1999?

Mo’Kelly is a huge sci-fi fan.  Why someone hasn’t put a modern touch on this TV series I’ll never understand.  Yes, it was cheesy but not real cheesy.  This British TV series did air in America and was moderately received in its short run.  Check out its theme and opening credits.  They don’t make shows like this.  It’s still better than most of the junk on the SyFy channel today and this ran in 1975.  The theme music was better than MOST blockbuster movies today and this was a lightly-regarded TV show.

Oh this brings back memories of childhood.  For more info, click HERE.

Hey Mo, what made you dig this one up…lol?

I was a fan of the show as well back in the day…I have to admit I'm rather ambivalent about the idea of a remake…TV usually proves the saying "If it 'aint broke…" time and time over. Battlestar Galactica was an exception, but I fear that was an once in a generation thing.

Here's an idea though; while watching I often wondered,"what's happening on earth?"…science tells us abut the powerful influence the moon has on the Earth and its inhabitants, what would be the effect of it being blown out of its orbit? I could be enticed to watch that…

Speaking of which, you never told us your thoughts on 2012…

Mo, there was a reason it was lightly regarded…..It sucked!! As much as I am I Sci Fi fan I barely remember this show, but I do agree that it could be upgraded….anything could be better than the original.

Gua…by that logic, Batman (the television series), Get Smart or Land of the Lost would have no chance at having being made into a movie. The Incredible Hulk TV show was pretty damn bad too. They all became movies.

Mo, I'm not saying that it shouldn't be redone, on the contrary, I'm saying a remake has to be better. My comment was on your lightly regarded statement. i agree all of the shows you mentioned were corny, However "Get Smart" the series was funny, the movie was awful.
