Lately, singer Brian McKnight has received more publicity for his rather explicit music offerings, generally related to criticism for them.
Regardless of how you may feel or not feel about the explicit nature of his music lately, you have to take notice of his rant, throwing elbows at not one…not two…but three influential members of the African-American entertainment community.
Evidently McKnight is less than pleased with the scrutiny of his career, relative to those mentioned in the Twitter rant. It seems McKnight senses a double-standard as to what is “acceptable” behavior for stars these days. A triple-decker “beef” sandwich for Brian McKnight.
He does have a point…but the real question is, is McKnight credible enough to be the one to make it? Hat tip to allhiphop.com for the story.

Brian! We have always known that the system of right and wrong treats celebs differently than common folk. While you were sleeping or you were just too blind to notice but we knew this all along so your rants are late. I'm sorry you just decided to wake up.
Not only do I think he is late…but you can’t write something so shockingly explicit (for publicity sake) and then complain about the nature of the publicity. You don’t write such music for music sake or improve at your craft…only for the purpose of shock value.
Mission accomplished.
I think another reason for the criticism is that he changed lanes. You can’t spend 20 years recording quality music and then put out something this crazy. It goes against his brand. People expect better from Brian because he’s always produced better. We expect stupidity from CB, FM & R Kelly, but not from Brian. We’re all judged on our past resume, Brian is no different.
Very good point.
Brian's point is that people are going in on him for being explicit but they are forgiving to felons because they are the "it" for right now. I get it. But he's late on R and C Brown. Money May he's saying what the rest of us are ignoring.
