(CNN) – The latest results from Gallup’s daily tracking poll indicate Rick Santorum has overtaken Mitt Romney nationwide and now leads the former Massachusetts governor by an eight-point margin.
According to the poll released Sunday, 36% of registered Republicans said they are backing Santorum, while 28% prefer Romney.
The new numbers represent a five-point drop for Romney since Wednesday, when the candidate was statistically tied with his opponent, 33% to 31%. Meanwhile, Santorum has jumped five points in the same time period.
The survey was conducted Tuesday through Saturday, more than a week after Santorum snatched a trio of victories in Missouri, Colorado and Minnesota. One day before he pulled the big upset on February 7, Santorum was in third place in the daily tracking poll with 16%.

No need for a long and drawn out post. AsRick Santorum moves forward to at least enjoy a momentary lead, it says two things. First, Republicans refuse to accept Mitt Romney, the more legitimate and more ELECTABLE candidate.
The extremist rhetoric of Santorum will not ever play nationally. There are more registered Democrats than Republicans. Winning a general election means swaying moderate Democrats, Independents and newly-registered voters.
Good luck with that with Rick Santorum.
The longer extremists like Santorum and Gingrich hang around, the more likely President Obama can count on re-election. Republicans are biting off their nose to spite their face. No matter to Mo’Kelly…

LOL! The republicans are a mess. They are even talking about finding yet another person to run…talk about desperation! LOL!
I wanted anyone to beat Romney. What an arrogant creep that Romney is and he hates the president. I’m loving this!
