Even though she is in process of being sued for the 2 million she stole from the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority (ahem…allegedly), she needs MORE money to help make it all (as in all of you) go away.
Yes, Barbara McKinzie needs MORE money, and she’s not shy about asking. Just in case you didn’t know, your dues weren’t enough. The coffers of AKA weren’t enough. She needs MORE!
______
Dear Soror, Friend and Supporter,
As you know, the DC lawsuit is finally over and the judge denied all claims of plaintiffs against me. Before we could exhale from this 4 year ordeal, the leadership of my beloved sisterhood filed a lawsuit in Illinois (see attached) essentially asserting the same claims as the plaintiffs in the DC lawsuit. As I understand this lawsuit, it states that I breached my fiduciary duty to AKA as President. Also attached is a memorandum from several sorors that either served with me or know of my leadership efforts as I grew and enriched AKA during my term by over $10 million. These concerned members also know that the issue of the implementation cost of the Board approved stipend was disclosed and discussed with the membership (including Board members) by me for over one year under the direction of legal counsel.
I write to ask your help and support of defense in this lawsuit. I am told that the cost could exceed $150,000. A legal fund has been established and payments should be made to “Battle Law Office, P.C., care of Barbara McKinzie legal defense fund”. The address is Battle Law Office, attention: Kenneth M. Battle, Managing Partner, 1016 West Jackson Blvd., Suite 300, Chicago, IL 60607.
My personal and professional reputation has been irreparably damaged and my life has certainly been changed forever. I would greatly appreciate your support in helping me successfully defend this lawsuit.
Barbara A. McKinzie, CPA, 27th International President, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
