NEW YORK, NY – Author Sabrina Lamb, who has rallied more than 36,000 people to sign her petition on Change.org, demanding that the Oxygen network pull a controversial show called “All My Babies’ Mamas,” will deliver her petitions to Oxygen’s New York City office on Tuesday, January 15, at 12:00pm ET. The controversial show, which chronicles rapper Shawty Lo, his 11 children and their 10 mothers, has drawn widespread criticism for its portrayal of African-American families and relationships.

When: Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Where: 6th Avenue and 49th Street, New York City (across the street from NBC Universal, which owns the Oxygen network). NOTE: Simultaneous petition deliveries will also take place in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, at Comcast Corporate Headquarters and at Oxygen Media’s Burbank offices, respectively.

Who: Sabrina Lamb, author and philanthropist who launched a petition on Change.org — www.change.org/nooxygen — demanding that the Oxygen Network pull a controversial show called “All My Babies’ Mamas.” Sabrina’s petition has drawn support from the Parents Television Council, Rap Rehab, Industry Ears, actress Kim Coles, The Odyssey Project, Black Men in America and popular Los Angeles radio host Mo’ Kelly.

Sabrina Lamb launched her petition after a clip of “All My Babies’ Mamas” was leaked online. Says Sabrina:

“Tomorrow, on the official birthday of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, petitioners in various U.S. cities, will deliver to NBCUniversal, Comcast, and Oxygen the signatures and the heartfelt sentiments from over 37,000 petitioners, who stand to protect children and young people from malicious, dangerous and violent television programming. Children and young people deserve responsible programming from the adults who produce television and target and profit from their exploitation.

More than 37,000 people have signed our petition, demanding that the Oxygen Network pull this show that stereotypes black parents and promotes dangerous messages to diverse young women. We’re carrying our message today directly to the doors of Oxygen and their parent company, NBC Universal, in multiple cities around the country. Oxygen needs to listen to its viewers who are loyal consumers and shareholders when they believe that an advertiser respects their buying power.”

The Oxygen network has so far been silent about the future of “All My Babies’ Mamas,” but has pulled clips of the show from the Internet and did not promote the program at their recent television conference.Today’s delivery in New York City, coupled with deliveries by petitioners in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, hope to get the network to publicly confirm that “All My Babies’ Mamas” will not air this spring.

Journalists interested in setting up an interview with Sabrina Lamb should use the contact details at the top of the page. Sabrina will read a short statement to interested press tomorrow morning before she and members of her coalition walk over to the Oxygen Network’s offices at NBC Universal to deliver her petitions.
