Chaka Khan Blames ‘Industry’ for Whitney Houston Death

(If this sounds eerily similar to everything Mo’Kelly has been saying…it’s not your imagination.)

From E!

A recovered addict herself, the “I’m Every Woman” singer explained how she would never arrive for a performance a week before the scheduled date, like Houston did. And since Whitney did, Khan noted, someone should have been there to supervise.

“I stand on, whoever flew her out to perform at that party, should have provided someone to be there,” she said, “To somehow, keep the riff-raff out of the situation. To keep the dangerous people away.”

Khan also shared Sharon Osbourne‘s sentiments of confusion and disapproval concerning Clive Davis‘ decision to move forward with his Grammy party after Houston’s death, and described how the music industry can become a bad influence on stars.

“I think we all, as artists, because we’re highly sensitive people, and this machine around us, this so-called ‘music industry,’ is such a demonic thing. It’s sacrifices people’s lives and their essences at the drop of a dime…I had a manager once say to me, ‘ You know you’re worth more money dead than alive.’

“I mean, I’ve cried for her, a lot over the years, so many times,” the singer said. “In a way I’ve mourned her, because I felt something was gonna happen because she was so close to the wire.”

Well, i think thats bulls**t, she was a grown woman, and i believe it was bobby browns fault she died, she didnt get mixed up in drugs till she met him, so to blame the music industry is just plane stupod.

That’s so not true Chaka Kahn said that her and Whitney were doing Coke together way before Whitney stated dealing with Bobby. So talk what you know. Lots of people who may have never started using if they were not in that industry. Leave Bobby alone as Whitney her self said No one is to blame for my problems but myself. RIP Whitney

The people around Whitney disclosed that she was already using drugs BEFORE she met Bobby. Did Bobby make it worse? Sure. But close friend Jennifer Holiday said, as recently as yesterday on CNN, that Whitney was already using Before Bobby.

    Carol,

Just like you I love Whitney and had prayed she would beat this. I wanted so bad for her to grow into a wise old woman. And I understand it is earier to blame her bad boy hubby but we have to look at Whitneys actions and the choices she made.

You stated that she was a grown woman and it is not the music industries fault…well that can be said for it not being the fault of Bobby Brown. She was a grown woman already using drugs before she even met Bobby so….when it comes to drugs or anything as a matter of fact…if you are grown you can not blame anyone for your choices. Did he enable, YES he did but the responsibility for Whitney is Whitney.

Downindixie is right, Jennifer Holiday did say it and I knew it from the start because a person that is sooo pure and innocent would have had a hard time accepting flaggerent drug abuse if they were not used to it or doing it themselves. Now if the person had no clue the hubby or wife was doing it then maybe…but EVERYONE in the free world knew that Bobby was doing drugs and getting in all types of trouble. We all knew he was a bad boy and we liked it until he got with Whitney then we hated him.

Im not saying he is innocent in all of this, Im just stating that Whitney was grown and knew full well what she was doing, what Bobby was doing and what she was getting into. We have to stop making excuses for people in addiction.
