Florida Megachurch pastor was found dead in a New York City hotel room.
That is the “sad” part. Of course you have all heard the news by now. Mo’Kelly wanted to wait to see how this would all play out before commenting. Maybe it was just an unfortunate event of someone being called home long before anyone in this life expected him to be.
People do die young naturally. It happens.
but no…not this time, not naturally at least.
When a spiritual leader passes it throws his/her congregation into tumult on ecumenical and spiritual levels.
That too is the sad part.
Now as more details have emerged, Tims’ death seems less like a surprise and more an eventuality. Tims did have a criminal history connected to drugs prior to becoming a pastor.
Tims was of questionable decision-making given his year-long affair with a STRIPPER, leading to the end of his marriage.
At this point, news outlets have reported that Tims was found with an unidentified “narcotic” on his person. If Black megachurches were hoping for some positive news in light of the last year of Bishop Eddie Long, they won’t find it with Zachery Tims.
Real bad way to exit.
Nobody wants the public obituary of their pastor replete with recent connections to drugs and strippers. Yet if there is any common thread between Long and Tims, it is in the fact that the membership and leadership of both churches must have been aware of the transgressions of their spiritual leader prior to the news revelation. Tims didn’t end up dead in a hotel room because of a singular event, but because of a chain events leading up to now.
Someone or even many knew about the demons being dealt with by Tims. Nevertheless, Tims’ defenders have spent more time and energy trying to protect his memory and ministry’s livelihood, instead of helping the man while he was still alive.
The reality is that more unflattering details are likely to emerge; more unfortunate truths surrounding Tims’ lifestyle are on the way. There was probably a long history of drug abuse while pastor. There likely was more than just “one” stripper connected to Tims. If you think Tims just happened to hook up with the first and only stripper he crossed paths with and that path was at the grocery store and not in the Champagne Room…you are still a fool.
The New Destiny Christian Center should be allowed time to heal from its loss. But eventually, it will need to be honest with its members and the larger public as to the truth about its now former pastor.

Put on a hard hat, Mo! People don’t like hearing the truth. The bible says that in the last days people would not be able to endure sound doctrine. When a person like you tells the TRUTH and the truth is UGLY, certain people get angry.
Don’t be surprised if you end up having to block some comments from your blog. I’ve gotten some wicked letters on this so far. And why? Um…..I’m telling the truth and people don’t like to face truth.
This guy was no boy scout and I look forward to the toxicology report.
I’m not scared of them. And I know you aren’t either. This is what we do.
Hello, I just left another website reading about this. My comment is that I hate the time in between when something like this is first reported and when all the facts are finally in. All the “maybe(s)” and “probably(s)” becomes redundant, annoying and boring. Everybody saying the same little bit of nothing. Why can’t journalists (as a whole) exercise a little patience and wait for all the facts to come in?
Are you talking about the facts that Tims has a history of drugs and arrests? Are you talking about the facts that the church has not explained why he was in a New York hotel room on this occasion? Are you talking about the facts of his divorce and his more than a year-long relationship with a stripper?
These facts aren’t in dispute. He was found with narcotics on his person. This was reported by CBS News. If that is wrong, I would complain to CBS. That is why I always link to stories.
My opinions that I included have to do with the fact that when your pastor drops dead at 42 with drugs found on him, it is reasonable to believe that drugs played a role. Either through use up until then or use on that specific occasion. Drugs found on him, no foul play suspected by the police. To suggest drugs didn’t figure into his death is to allege circumstances not expressed in news reports anywhere.
There is no news report saying that he had a heart condition that was unrelated to drugs. And we all know cocaine is a beast on the healthiest of hearts.
What facts other than the toxicology report are we supposed to wait for? Be specific Gloria. Because the facts surrounding where he was found, how he was found, what was found on him and his lifestyle in the years leading up to his death are not in question.
Mo, I am angry today with the pastors who will not speak to the issue of HOW Zachery Tims died! I am angry with the pastors who called Zach brother, KNEW of his addictions, but never got in his face like a real brother. When my biological brother was strung out on crack, I went to the crack house to get him! There are too many preachers in the Church who are anointed and addicted! We cannot wait for them to confess, we must snatch them out of the fire and the pulpit if necessary. When the Lord told Zachery to begin his ministry in a hotel room in Florida, IT WAS NOT HIS WILL that Zachery end his ministry in a hotel room in New York!

Agreed. I support you and encourage you to keep telling the truth Monica.
Wow, I think I am going to have to save this page as a fav. I like how you tell the truth without judging. I hate that we the body of Christ hide behide religion and will let a raptist keep raping as long as we preaches our soul happy. If there is video footage then we say it still not true and has been tampered with. When will we stop being so religious and actually do what Jesus would do and help our pastors, saints, and aints? Just think, Pastor Zach would still be here if someone had taken the time out to love on him without their hand out. I can’t say what really happened but what I will say is that I am a strong black woman and when I went through a tragedy, people refuse to allow me to ask for help. The more I cried out the more that said Oh you are fine, your a fighter, and continued to ask me for whatever help they were needing. Someone with that much success in God lives a very lonely life. Church has taken away the family and the Bible says God first, then family, and then church. Famous pastors just keep running and running without person accountability to someone they can trust and who is also real enough to see through the bull. Honestly we don’t know if it was drugs or bc powder but we do know the people who fell in the casket are the ones who know he had a problem but he was a money maker so why change anything. It is fine the way it is and hints forth why he is not with us today. It is like Tyler Perry says what goes on in the house should not stay in the house if it means me getting the help I need. TOOO many family and church secrets. Pastor Long – Those people want understand until it is there child. What if it is their child and they just don’t know. God help us all!!!
I just pray and hope he had a moment to ask forgiveness and call upon the Lord before his last breath. I know addiction very well and it is a litteral hell on earth. To think that someone would live in a heLL on earth to then end up in the real eternal hell is terrifying!! God is not playing games, we need to truly give our ears to the holy spirit and yield. The warnings are always there.
