Proof We as Black People Hate Ourselves (VIDEO)

Why would anyone in their right mind allow themselves to be filmed as part of this garbage?  Some have “argued” that this is a parody, making a political statement.  Save it.  This is the embodiment of hatred.  The fact that “we” participate in it, support it or allow it in any way is proof we hate ourselves.

We hate ourselves with an anger not easily explained with words or music alone.  But put them together in the manner below…it’s easy to understand its depths.

We would gladly defend this and have the dirty nerve to wonder why President Obama is so routinely disrespected.  It’s all connected.  We are the only people on the face of this Earth who would allow this or even sign up to have our faces in it.

And all the children singing along was another nauseating effect.  Bravo.

And if you’re wondering if “we” were behind this…here is your answer.  The good news is that we aren’t.  The bad news is also that we aren’t.  There is social commentary to be had on both accounts.  Much too much for this post.

In other news…the monument to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington D.C. is now open.

    Hi Mr. Mo’Kelly,

I understand your perspective concerning the video but there is another perspective that this video is touching on and that is, the systematic abuse of the welfare system by some of those who receive these benefits. I personally know people who receive these ebt cards and sell them in exchange for cash for whatever reasons. For example, someone may need the cash to help pay their bills and then there are some that want to hit up the club and need some money in their pocket and two weeks later they are calling trying to borrow money until they get their next check to make up for the food stamps they sold.

I am only putting it mildly but this video pulls the covers off of those who are abusing the system and showing the world that this is what happens. Some people will take offense because either they are the abusers or they don’t understand that this video is depicting reality because not everybody know of someone who gets ebt cards and the potential abuse committed by some. Just thought I’d share.

Jean…let’s take your premise to the logical conclusion. Here are the first questions I would ask you. Who then is this video for? Who then is the supposed audience?

We know people abuse the system, but this is isn’t an instructional video. It is not political satire in a true sense. Just because one makes fun of something political it does not in any way mean it is thoughtful or provocative.

I would liken it to me getting 35 of my closest Chinese friends and using EVERY SINGLE VULGAR STEREOTYPE to “parody” how the U.S. is in financial debt to China.

Who exactly is being enlightened and who is being degraded? Are you telling me this is intelligent commentary? No, it is a music video for the purpose of making money. It is a song for sale and not marketed to anyone concerned with political issues. No supposed message intended justifies the methodology.

Not only that, please show me on the artist’s website which corroborates your thesis? It is garbage on its best day. If you have to degrade yourself and your people to make a statement about the welfare system (which is predominantly NON-BLACK-USED) then you have no point to make.

I will not give this any benefit of the doubt. That’s like saying because rappers call men N****s and women B*****s on their records, they’re trying to shed light on how it is on the streets.

      BS.

Yes, we all know of people who abuse EBT. And we all know of people who eat watermelon and fried chicken too. I don’t need a music video with children and F-Bombs to make that point. This is simply horrible all the way around. I appreciate your point but I will not allow excuses for the inexcusable.

        Hi Mo,

You are correct, it is horrible all the way around. With the race and politics aside or in addition to (take your pick :)), it is shameful that someone has to bring attention to the abuse in such a graphic depiction. Not just the abuse of the system by some of those receiving the benefits but by others – for example, these food deserts in some of the communities that make it easier for people to use the non-cash portion of their benefits for cigarettes, beer, blunts, etc.

It provoke thoughts on addressing the issue as to WHY people are in the position to have to do this in the first place – i.e. lack of social services for the recipients such as budgeting classes, education, job training or other resources? Here in Chicago, the food desert issue is being addressed by allowing big-box stores (Whole Foods, Wal-Mart) to open up across the city in the communities with food deserts. This provides – 1. healthier food options 2. Job creation.

Again, I agree with you Mo’, it is a hot mess all the way around.

        xoxo – Jean

I just don’t think the intentions of the video have anything to do with actual political debate. I see it as no different as the KKK promoting the video. It espouses an opinion draped in racist stereotypes.

If at the end of the video it ran down a list of stats or contact information for the local congressperson (video is based in L.A.) to address the issue, it could claim at least somewhat noble intentions. It does none of that. It starts with the statement that “California, this is how your tax dollars are being spent” but gives an L.A. only view of government assistance.

Since when were the majority of Californians or welfare-assistance recipients in California Black? According to this video, we are not only the majority, we are the ONLY race relative to the “issue” in the video.

Both are FLAGRANTLY untrue. Because the ignorant artist and director don’t know any better. They are as ignorant as the video suggests “others” are.

This is not a social statement. It is ignorance. No more, no less.

Its messages are that the welfare system is being abused by only Black people and “all they have to do is F***”) That’s actually untrue on both accounts, so factually already it’s in error. This video wasn’t about giving information, it gave an unsupported racist opinion, a self-hating racist opinion for the purpose of music sales.

There is a place and manner in which to have legitimate political debate or offer socially redemptive music. I seriously doubt this artist knows how to do that. With scenes of men simulating oral sex on women in this video and grinding for the camera, it’s obvious it’s more about the visuals than the political particulars.

I am in no way “inspired” to examine the welfare system or its supposed abuse by anything in this video. Nobody targeted in terms of intended viewership will ever be politically motivated or savvy enough to address these issues. It is a red-herring.

Who exactly is supposed to make a change and why because of this video? Exactly. It is factually flawed and offers no substantive commentary. it is a hateful music video that’s all, with no redemptive qualities. No different than if the Klan made it as a treatise on why Black people are bringing down the nation. It is not political commentary. It is hatred.

Thanks for the info on Chris J. I saw this on a friends fb page and saw it was linked to World Star Hip Hop (a mecca of self-hatred) this was my comment under the video:

Not falling for the okie doke propaganda. I smell a Republican somewhere. Is there welfare abuse? Sure! And it is a shame that many people believe this is the only way to “get paid”. As a tax payer however, I don’t sweat the 1/10 of 1 percent of my tax dollars that go to feed kids in poverty (or where ever) I’m much more concerned about the three ridiculous wars I never approved of and I am funding, the bailouts of banks and auto (corporate welfare is cool though) and Billionaires who don’t pay their fair share via gaping tax loop holes and hire lobbyists to keep it that way, in part by scape-goating ignorant ass negros like the ones in this video because the optics of it are so inflammatory. No different than Regan’s Welfare Queen in the 80s. World Star Hip Hop is the worst.
