Mo’Kelly on The Michael Eric Dyson Show – The Interview!

Today is a very good day here in The Mo’Kelly Report. Below you will find the conversation between noted intellectual and radio host Dr. Michael Eric Dyson and Mo’Kelly.  The dialogue was rich, to be sure.  If you keep spreading the word, Mo’Kelly will continue to be able to raise the level and quality of the debate surrounding the critical issues confronting African-Americans.

Thank you for your erudition; thank you for your incisive analysis; thank you for speaking truth to power; thank you for being a “stand up brother”; thanks for all that and a whole lot “MO”!

Your interviews with Dr. Dyson and Paul Porter should be included in a mandatory cultural sensitivity training curriculum for Whites as well as Blacks and other ethnic minorities.

If ignorance of the law is no defense in jurisprudence, plain ole ignorance definitely don’t cut it; especially not just because you’re black!

I appreciate the kind words Roger. I can only ask that you pass the interviews on…they will do the job. Let’s continue to raise the caliber of conversations surrounding these issues.

I agree, as well. There is room for both Spike and Tyler and a whole host of others who have enjoyed more modest success. And although there is not much change between Tyler’s first and last Madea movies, I think some of the non-Madea movies do show growth.

Criticism also is needed, but the criticism I am hearing and reading is of a level that speaks to a different, deeper issue. I enjoy reading your articles on the EURweb, I used to post there. However the reaction to any story, but especially TP articles……let’s just say the comments to those articles can also be characterized as childish, coonery and for some, downright mean-spirited.

But based on many of the ‘posts’, I sometimes feel that our emphasis on how we are portrayed is all about showing white folks we can act just as good as they do. I feel that we are tied up into making sure we paint a picture that is wholesome, good, intelligent…..perfect portrayal to everyone. In other words, we are all about the external, the outside – but not the inside, where the ugliness resides.

Are we trying to create an protect a facade in order to make ourselves feel better on the inside? (And what did we do when we had a positive show about us on TV – we criticized it from here to Cuba….and over 20 yrs later, we still criticize it.)

So if beauty comes from within, shouldn’t we take this energy and this medium and work on fixing our selves, our community on the inside – not for them, but for us? Because a movie is not going to change the opinion of a person about our community. I’m sorry.

Because something is seriously wrong with us and a new coat of paint (picture perfect characters in a movie) isn’t going to cover our cracks.
