If true (the death threats)…the word, “ironic” definitely crossed Mo’Kelly’s mind. Probably using the phrase “blood libel” to make a political point in the wake of the Tucson tragedy was more than slightly ill-advised. How Palin’s advisers thought playing the victim card or even pulling out “blood libel” without knowing its complete historical significance is nothing short of amazing.
Absolutely and utterly amazing.
Sometimes you don’t have to do anything to stop someone, you just get out of the way and let it happen all by itself. Some call it natural Facebook selection.
Palin responded in detail today to the attacks leveled against her, but while her intentions may have been to shift the blame away from herself, she instead put her in the hot seat again.
“Journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn,” she said in an early morning Facebook post today.
The term “blood libel” has been used historically to falsely accuse Jews of using Christian children’s blood to prepare their Passover matzoh. The myth is said to have begun in Europe as early as the 12th century, perpetuated by the death of a small boy in England in 1144.
It’s a term that Jews say has been used to incite anti-Semitism and justify violence against them for centuries.

“In more recent news, a speech-writer was fired today…”
Mo,
This woman is as dumb as a doorknob. And the person who wrote her speech for her is a hero. I’m happy he wrote that mess. Now she is in hot water with Jewish folks.
My thing was…why would anyone say “blood” ANYTHING in the wake of such a tragedy?! Beyond stupid…and only done to score political points. Amazing. A number have people have openly questioned her intellectual capacity in the wake of this.
From way out in left field,… the “Southern Strategy” involved knowingly alienating the Af-Am vote while securing the (Southern)White vote, using the strategic reasoning that the (Southern)White vote outnumbered the Af-Am vote by at least 5 to 1, right? Perhas Palin and her camp were willing to take the risk with the phrase based on a similar strategic thinking about the vote of her base compared to the Jewish vote?
