Good interview Mo, If The President even hinted at doing what you suggest don’t you think he would be vilified even more so than now.
I do agree that he is disconnected from the black experience and I believe its because he was not brought up in it. He doesn’t have the black experience that you and I do. He can only relate intellectually. I think that is one of the reasons that he is with Michelle. She helps in that regard. She legitimizes his “blackness”, as well as Reggie Love.
The people he surrounds himself with are a result of how and who he grew up with, these are the people that he is comfortable with. Having said that I’m not condoning his actions but only giving a rational as to why.

I agree the solution you mention….giving incentives to businesses to train/hire felons sounds good and is doable, except: It is not doable with the economy the way it is, the political climate the way it is, or race relations the way it is. In fact, I would suggest that affirmative action would have to work triple time to make that solution really work for black men who have been incarcerated. And with the rising felons in the latino community………..well. it is what it is.

And I really wish Obama had not said anything, not because it was Vick, but because no matter what he does, he is going to get it from both sides. Many of us giveth and if we don’t get the hook up, we for sure will talk about you bad until we die. I think we have forgotten that there was a time where no matter how good we were at something or how much money we made them, if we did anything to make them upset, our azz was grass. I ain’t saying we should be grateful, but I am saying that I thought Vick would be a sanitation work right about now, not contending for NFL MVP award.
