Mo’Kelly (like everyone else) thought maybe it was an April Fools joke. But it has come from a number of reliable sources that the Internal Revenue Service has been camped out at the Chicago headquarters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for the better part of a week.
No editorial commentary to be made. When the IRS shows up, there’s not too much Mo’Kelly (or Barbara McKinzie for that matter) can say. McKinzie may not open the books to the members of her own sorority, but she damn sure will be opening them up to the federal government.
It seems one Barbara A. McKinzie was celebrating a bit too prematurely. Not only that, this is assuming that the Illinois Attorney General doesn’t also ratchet up an investigation of McKinzie’s other activities. Mo’Kelly will share more when Mo’Kelly knows more.

"I have met the enemy and it is us" Until the membership rises up against BAM and the Directorate's self dealings, we will not see this resolved in the best interests of the sorority. Please stop waiting on the courts, the IRS, the leadership, someone else, to right the wrong. It starts and ends with "US." I am still fighting along with the WI8 and Soror Julia. The delay in my posting the info was I needed to hear from enough sources that it actually happened…people on the ground there. Remember, it's not like a gestapo who knocks at your door. It's more subtle than that. They don't announce their entrance so not everyone would know that the IRS was there. Surprise is a key tactic for them. Then a key individual or two let me know it was for real, and that was good enough for me. Hopefully I'll know more in the near future as to what records/books were confiscated for review.
PinkysUp…I agree that we should not sit back and let others do what needs to be done. But BAM uses our documents against us. What happened at the NARC was an example. We definetly need to take on BAM and the board. I welcome this IRS investigation as a way to start tearing down that wall of corruption. Now you watch if charges are lodged see how many of the fence sitters suddenly want to see BAM go. They've been sitting around waiting to see where the dirt would land before they took sides.Ughhh!!!!
Von8…I welcome the IRS too. The bottom line is the membership has to rise to the occasion and demand that no officer can engage in self dealing. If the membership wants to pay an officer, than the membership should vote that in after FULL disclosure and discussion. We are a volunteer organization. We have to elect new leaders who fully understand that.
First thing I did when I saw that post on the WI site was click to Mo Kelly. Then I let it go as an April Fool prank. Now that you have provided some CREDIBLE documentation okay. The WI site is open so any one can post anything there. That’s why readers were so skeptical. I would like to know if the post about BAM not letting them in until they got a supervisor was true. That was some real thug action. SMH!!

I hope the crooks in all of our once prestigious greek-lettered organizations can be exposed and convicted, so these orgs can be used for their true purposes! IRS, get 'em!
I want IRS to see fit to get rid of the entire board. They are a disgrace to black college educated women. My older family members who picked cotton so that they could send their children to college would be hurt. They expected so much more. BAM and her buddies have damaged black educated women..Thugs!
Has anyone heard anything about the IRS at Corporate? BAM hasn't sent a gloating e-mail for the past several weeks. Something's brewing!
No, their investigation and its direction will be very hush hush. And yes, BAM will not be gloating over this. We'll all find out pretty much at the same time when their decision is handed down.
