Absolutely the worst judge in the DC Superior Court. She has no reasoning whatsoever to her judgments. … She forgets her rulings from one day to the next….

Worst possible judge in DC… She acts not on thelaw but on her emotional bias, she controls every aspect of the case to ensure the outcome she wants, when confronted she states that the jury will be informed not to let her bias interfere with their duties. Her hostility is horrific and an embarassment to the Benchand legal profession…

With great hubris,Judge Combs-greene controls every aspect of the court room to ensure a favorable outcome for DC. And when the AAGs are too incompetent to handle a cross, she intervenes. Frequently she objects and sustains without any vocalizing by defense counsel… when challenged on her open bias, she states, take me to the Court of Appeals, if your client can afford it….

Civil Litigation – Private

Comment #: DC123
Rating:2.6
Comments:
Judge Combs-Greene is the worst possible combination. She believes that she has a keen knowledge of the law but in fact she has a poor knowledge of the law. Accordingly, she tends to be a poor listener and not willing to be educated.

She also appears to hold grudges against attorneys and will not hesitate to needlessly and inappopriately embarass an attorney in front of the jury. Often times it seems she has no idea that her conduct would even do this.

Finally, she definitely appears to have a defense bias. She will let defense counsel get away with things and then will sua sponte admonish plaintiff’s counsel for the exact same behavior.

Extremely arrogant, biased, and in serious need of medication. A disgrace to the profession.

Openly states she is on the side of DC goverment attorneys, having been one herself, and turns a blind eye to their refusal to participate in discovery and late responses. She is openly biased, moody, sarcastic, and acts without regard for the robe or the law. She looks like she’s on a permanent audition to replace Judge Judy.

Civil Litigation – Private

Comments:
Staunch supporter of the District of Columbia when the District is sued. Comments about personal relationship with Assisant Attorney Generals. Called my client a “dog” in open court and told me “When you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas.” Warned me that I could be “hurt” for my zealous advocacy against the District of Columbia and then took a case from the jury (a case in which I represented a plaintiff that the defendant admitted that they had damaged) and dismissed the case.

Comments:
Inconsistent, illogical and exceedingly weak intellectually. Results-oriented, whatever the law may actually be.

Call me naive BUT how can this be dismissed when the books have NOT been opened? Does this mean that if you have a desire to get rich quick the best way is to start a nonprofit? The tax returns from 2008 have still not been filed. Forget about 2009!! How does this judge's ruling strengthen the credibility of nonprofit organizations? A very sad day for those who have good hearts and want to help others. A red letter day for those who are corrupt and take advantage of good intentions

You're not naive Von08…and that's the saddest part in all of this. If the books are opened, the game is over. It's not a coincidence that this dismissal came BEFORE a ruling on the pending motion to compel.

It's that simple…if the books are opened, the full truth comes out. The Weeping Ivy 8 were railroaded, pure and simple. But such is the struggle when going up against corporations with longer money.

Find a Federal law that's being broken and get the U.S. Attorney to go after her.

    They love stuff like this.

Amazing. Did this information just crop up after the judgement? Why was it not mentioned prior? Would it have been published had the outcome been different? There were numerous opportunities to share this information prior to her decision. Particularly since one comment was 2 years old. 1-14-08 is not a recent comment. I would be interested in reading ALL the comments about this particular judge.

The links are there for you to follow. There are ZERO positive comments. And no, this information didn't just "crop" up. But badmouthing a judge PRIOR to a trial wouldn't have been very strategic now would it have? But yes, her reputation was known by me. And if you know the reputation, you know she would use any such public criticism of her against the plaintiffs as evidenced by the comments.

But you are free to search until you are content. You will likely not find one positive comment on any judge rating service ANYWHERE.

In addition, there were some procedural questions about the opinion that make this judgment and her past history even more curious. I can't speak on it in specifics because the information is sensitive in nature. There are some very, very questionable things that have taken place behind the scenes. It's highlighted by the documented history of this judge.

It's like criticizing referees before the big game. You don't do it.

Mo – I'm sure you're already aware of this; but I didn't know until yesterday that Combs Greene and one of the defendants Vicki Miles LaGrange went to Howard Law School together. WTH?!?!?!? I am NOT a judge or attorney by trade, but I AM a highly intelligent, educated and credentialed Alpha Kappa Alpha woman with good common sense –I can't imagine that it wouldn't pose a conflict of interest to have a judge ruling on a case when they would seem to have a personal relationship/affiliation with the defendant. Not to mention that she kept bringing up LaGrange's name all throughout the December hearing. Then she sits on the ruling for a month, and then in th 11th hour switches it over to another judge?!?!?

All the judges in DC and they couldn't find one that wasn't a law school classmate of the one of the defendants?? For those that think these two judges being classmates is completely irrelevant, think again…..

    To be continued….

Now that you've said it, I can admit knowing it as it was told to me in confidence. Yes, it is true…Judge Natalia Combs-Greene and Vicki LaGrange were law school classmates.

The judge should have recused herself. Now you know what I meant when I said I smell a rat. Thank you for saying it publicly. Now I can speak on it without endangering a source.

I really really wish that I could get in a conference with some attorneys. There is so much that I don't understand. Is it normal to switch judges as it happened here? Is attending the same school at the same time not a factor to consider? Has this ruling eliminated other legal remedies? I wish I'd gone to law school. Maybe I'd have a better grasp of what happened. Also if I did have a legal background, I'd be conferring with others quietly to find alternatives.

Just as jurors have to disclose that they may have a relationship with a plaintiff or defendant, I’m quite sure that judges would all the more so have to do the same. Howard Law School is quite small and intimate. Vicki Miles LaGrange was 2 years ahead of Combs Greene, I’m quite these two knew one another and were probably even friends. I have many friends that went to HUSL, and I know for a fact that they have a very large network and all remain in close contact with fellow students.

I just reread the post from DCAKA…The judge kept bringing up the name of Vicki Miles LaGrange throughtout the December hearing!!!!!!! Now I know I also don’t have a legal background but this can’t be kosher. Did the judge remove herself or was she removed by someone else. What is going on and why???
