Six Sigma Gamma Rho Sorors Arrested for Hazing

If you know the words to this song, sing along.  Another historically Black Greek Letter Organization is in trouble.  When Mo’Kelly last broached this subject, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity announced its organization-wide moratorium and membership freeze while it dealt with issues such as these.

Alpha Kappa Alpha as we all know is dealing with extreme financial issues and some of its membership is seeking to remove its national president.  Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is in the midst of a $97 million dollar lawsuit in response to a hazing-related death of a pledge.

Mo’Kelly will say it again…it will not be long before ALL of our organization s cease to exist at this rate.

Pledging used to be a beautiful thing. It was a chance for you to bond and get to know your line sisters. Back then, it was more mental then physical. Is it really worth it to be in an organization that beats you half to death and calls you brother/sister? It's not worth losing everything to me. Thees young women will now have a criminal record, all for the sake of keeping it real. Now who's the fool?

When members of the PanHellenic define hazing they always say physical and mental. I don't understand why the pledges didn't know that beating is hazing. Also wasn't there some type of orientation with interested students AND a graduate advisor. The students should have been told that meetings off campus without a grad advisor present are illegal. At this point I'm going to have to agree with Mo'. Our Black sororities and fraternities have been wonderful for our comminities. But now that the thug mentality is so accepted, these organizations may not survive. That's really very sad.
