“WORKING MAN’S CONSERVATIVE” LENNY MCALLISTER ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
FOR ILLINOIS’ VACANT 2ND CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SEAT
LennyforCongress.com Goes Live
South Side, CHICAGO (December 3, 2012) – Nationally-renowned political commentator and
community advocate Lenny McAllister announced today that he will run for the seat in Illinois’
2nd Congressional District currently vacant after the resignation of Congressman Jesse
Jackson, Jr. McAllister calls for the people of the district to look beyond career politicians and
accept a candidate who can reach across the aisle for bipartisan accountability and
accessibility.
“The Second Congressional District – like much of America – finds itself at a set of critical
crossroads. In this time of economic crisis, political upheaval, community endangerment, and
partisan gridlock, the constituents need leadership beyond limiting labels,” said McAllister.
McAllister is a noted public speaker and activist that is well known for being outspoken against
both political parties on key issues over recent years on local, state, national, and international
platforms. Known throughout grassroots circles in the Chicagoland and throughout the nation,
McAllister has been instrumental in efforts that included shaping laws with local leaders that
further protect domestic violence victims and standing along with the NAACP to oppose recent
discriminatory voter laws, including the Pennsylvania mandate that was overturned before the
2012 presidential election.
McAllister, who is finishing up post-election meetings in Washington, DC before returning to
Chicago, recently provided analysis on the 2012 elections for multiple local, national and
international outlets over the past four months including WBEZ in Chicago, Vocalo Radio, WGN,
BET, CNN, HLN, Radio New Zealand, Canadian Broadcast Corporation, and Sun News
Network (in Canada). He was also featured on a bus tour with liberal-leaning Politic365
throughout Florida and North Carolina to talk with college students about the 2012 election. He
finished up the election season touring the swing state of Virginia.

Herman Cain’s ‘Pound of Hubris’ Instead of ‘Ounce of Humility’
(This was written by CNN/Fox commentator Lenny McAllister, friend,
former guest and present supporter of The Mo’Kelly Report)
_____________
A cautionary tale for Black conservatives: even if the allegations are not true (a big “if” to some at this point), Herman Cain’s responses to them are not winning over many Americans to his views or his leadership.
No, it’s not just in regards to the sexual allegations that Mr. Cain adamantly denied by way of a press conference in Arizona. Yes, that is plenty enough ‘splaining he will need to do, covering not just allegations that stretch from Chicago to Washington, DC, but as well for the hopes of supporters rooting for his candidacy.
There’s some “splainin’” that must come forth regarding other Cain issues yielding a not-too-complimentary image of the Cain Train, even if his momentum of support has maintained in many ways thus far.
For example, explain this: for a man who often notes he is the only non-politician running for the presidency on the Republican ticket, the amount of political hubris that Mr. Cain has shown over the course of two weeks reflects less of the grassroots affability (and perhaps even some sense of humility) that propelled him to straw poll wins starting in Florida two months ago.
Instead, it comes off with the same image of the proud, us-versus-them mentality that creates more enemies than friends – and apathy towards American politics. The stonewalling efforts fending off allegations of harassment have been criticized as damaging double-talk from Cain while the story grew, from differing stories on settlements to recollections about the details surrounding these allegations.
However, more damaging (and often less discussed) to Cain’s image is the arrogant manner in which he has denied the claims. During the infamous November 8th press conference from Arizona, Cain denied ever meeting one of the accusers just weeks after seeing the woman in a back-stage encounter in Chicago, then turned around and called the woman “troubled” and sent by Democrats to destroy his campaign. Doesn’t that plea, made by a master politician a decade ago, sound familiar?
Explanations fending off a firestorm have never been spoken more accusatorily by a career politician.
Yet, more damage to the folksy feel-good nature of the Cain Train was caused later in the week with his unnecessary ribbing of former Speaker of the House “Princess” Nancy Pelosi during the GOP debate in Michigan. He should have been more mindful of his slip in the polls (particularly with women) dropping him into a virtual tie with GOP presidential competitors Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. At the very least, he should be wary of condescendingly sexist, arrogant, or un-presidential comments.
This is not only threatening to his campaign, but risks squandering another opportunity for Black conservatives in American politics.
Instead of attacking the left consistently with facts and figures – as he so eloquently did when addressing President Clinton and the universal health care movement in the 1990s – Cain resorts to name-calling and insults. That may get applause from conservatives, but there are diminishing returns from the American electorate.

Lenny McAllister Fired from WVON for on-air Call for Boycott
Lenny is a close friend and always been supportive of The Mo’Kelly Report. I support and stand with him. WVON…the “VOICE of the NEGRO”…is now sanctioning people for speaking up for the voiceless…
WVON should be ashamed of itself.

Sometimes no good deed goes unpunished. That’s exactly what political pundit, Hip-Hop Republican and CNN/TheRoot.com contributor Lenny McAllister discovered this week when he was fired from Chicago’s premiere black political talk station WVON 1690.
This is the station that put “Soul Train” host Don Cornelius on, that gave Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and several other prominent African Americans a chance to shine on air while speaking out about the nation’s poor and downtrodden.
So what led to his firing? Speaking out for the poor and downtrodden.
McAllister is a nationally known Republican political commentator who came to WVON earlier this year with the promise of having his own show. Soon his “Launching Chicago with Lenny McAllister” show was burning up the airwaves with his mix of humor, right-wing rhetoric and inside commentary. McAllister had a long career of mentoring young men in prison and rough communities based on his upbringing in Pittsburgh. He also was involved in a mentoring program for kids from Chicago’s West Side. It was that kind of compassion that got him in trouble at WVON.
On July 19th McAllister ran into one of his mentees in the city who was a bit down on his luck. McAllister had bonded with the student in large part because of their similar backgrounds. Both were teen fathers, and both had worked hard to care for their children while taking full responsibility for their actions.
His 21-year-old mentee had a 2.8 GPA at Chicago State, had been named Outstanding Cadet in his ROTC unit, was night manager at a local McDonald’s and would be deployed to the Middle East later this year. And to top it off he was a father who was supporting his 20-year-old girlfriend and their 6-day-old son.
Tragically, the mentee’s son died suddenly on a day early in July. According to McAllister, the mentee called his boss Keith Allen at McDonald’s to ask for a day off to make funeral arrangements and be with his girlfriend. The owner allegedly said something along the lines of “I don’t care – if you miss work you’re fired.” The student went to see about his girlfriend and dead child and was fired the next day. The young man told McAllister the story and the pundit went into rescue mode.
McAllister called the McDonald’s boss trying to find out the problem but said he was given the run around. So he went to the airwaves, calling out Keith Allen, who is an African-American and owns five local McDonald’s franchises. On his show, he called for a “McDonald’s Holiday,” essentially a boycott of Allen’s McDonald’s restaurants.
McAllister recalled for me what he said over the air: “If this was a white business owner and a black college student, you’d all be marching down Martin Luther King Drive (in Chicago) singing, ‘We Shall Overcome.’ Well, this is a black business owner and a black college student willing to serve our country and care for his family. What are you going to do about it?”
Listeners were furious about the firing.
