Commentary — 21 March 2011

Far too often, Mo’Kelly gets emails asking for comment on stories both large and small.  Without a doubt it’s too time consuming to flesh out editorials on all of the top news issues of the day.  But Mo’Kelly can offer quick thoughts…a rundown on the top stories and items.  Let Mo’Kelly know if this shorthand works for you.  Don’t worry, the full responses to some issues will always be here, but this will allow more topics to be addressed here in The Mo’Kelly Report on a daily basis.  And it goes a little something like this.

The Airstrikes in Libya

Mo’Kelly feels like we’re reliving the Bush presidency.  Since when did we as a nation sign up to become the world police?  There is such a thing as a sovereign nation.  Just when you thought that Afghanistan and Iraq were enough, the U.S. is now involved in another military conflict…unnecessarily.  This is not the change for which Mo’Kelly voted.

Rape of 11-year old by some 18 boys/men

It does not and will not EVER matter what the victim was wearing, her social habits or even the race of the accused.  We as a community must strive to be righteous not merely on the side of race.  Where race does matter in our societal indifference.  Just imagine if the victim were White…

Now imagine if the accusers were White…

Either way, the reporting of the events by the press varies greatly.

We owe to the victim and the accusers to do what’s right, not what is racially convenient.

Fox Commentator Juan Williams Says “I get nervous walking past young Black men.”

Of course he gets nervous…

All sarcasm aside, there are two discussions to be had on this; the reality and the fantasy.  The reality is that Black on Black crime is a tangible problem in our community and must be addressed.  The reality also is that Juan Williams is probably never in the same neighborhood as young African-American men and has nothing in common.

Of course he’s nervous around young Black men.

The fantasy is that Juan Williams speaks for, is knowledgeable about or is informed about who young Black men are.  The fantasy is that the majority of us look like, act like or embrace thug and criminal life.
