No…Eddie Long Did NOT Step Down
For whatever reasons, an OLD (Dec. 2011) Yahoo story found its way back into the current news queue, indicating Bishop Long had stepped down. If people had looked at the date of the story, it clearly said December 2011, when he originally took “a leave of absence” after originally being served divorce papers by Vanessa.
So, for all of you coming here to get the details on Bishop Eddie Long “stepping down” Mo’Kelly has no news source in which to validate any such claim.

Yes It’s True…Vanessa Long is Taking ‘King Eddie’ Back
It is what it is…SOMEONE WAS PAID OFF!
____
The divorce petition filed by Vanessa Long against Bishop Eddie Long, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, has been dismissed, according to DeKalb County court filings posted online that were later confirmed by the minister’s lawyer.
The online postings in the case of “Long vs. Long” dated Monday indicate the petition was dismissed “without prejudice.”
One of Bishop Eddie Long’s lawyers, Lawrence Cooper, confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Vanessa Long had asked that the divorce petition be dismissed. He declined to say if the Longs were reunited. In an emailed response to the AJC, Vanessa Long’s lawyers declined to comment.
It is the second time in three months that Vanessa Long has called off plans to divorce the popular DeKalb County minister, who has battled accusations of improper sexual relationships with male members of his congregation.
Long, who has repeatedly denied the allegations, settled lawsuits filed by several of those members last year.
On Dec. 2, Vanessa Long announced she was seeking to end her 21-year-marriage following “a great deal of deliberation and prayer.” Later the same day and in a statement sent through New Birth’s public relations firm, she was quoted as saying that upon further “prayerful reflection,” she was withdrawing the divorce petition.
“I love my husband,” she was quoted as saying. “I believe in him and admire his strength and courage.” The New Birth elder said her decision to seek a divorce was driven by “years of attacks in the media that frustrated and overwhelmed me.” She and her husband had “mutually agreed to find healing,” Vanessa Long said.
But then, even later on Dec. 2, her attorneys announced Vanessa Long was proceeding with the divorce “consistent with her original [statement] made this morning.”
In the divorce filing, Vanessa Long, 53, said her marriage to the New Birth senior pastor was “irretrievably broken” and there was “no hope of reconciliation.” The couple had been in a “state of separation,” according to the petition.

Yes, it’s True…Bishop Eddie Long Back to Full-Time Preaching
Mo’Kelly wanted to wait and see if Bishop Eddie was only putting in a New Year’s
appearance or two and then moving back to the background to sort out his familial “issues.”
Well, it’s been confirmed he’s back to business. He’s evidently worked out his family ‘issues” to enough of a degree where he feels he can manged both the business of the church and his impending divorce.
Great job New Birth, you let him off the hook again. Haven’t you had enough…yet?!
_____________
From The Washington Post
Eddie Long has returned to public ministry. The senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church returned to preach during a New Year’s Eve service at the suburban Atlanta church. He took a leave of absenceto deal with family issues. In December, the embattled pastor’s wife of 21 years, filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” with “no hope of reconciliation.”
“2012 is here! Shake off the remorse, shake off the depression, shake off the financial burden, start using your hands again and reconstructing! God is more about your future than he was about your past,” Long said during the service, according to Charisma News.
“I’m still your pastor. You’ll still receive my direction,” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Long saying. “You’ve given me some weeks to take care of some family business.”
Long will attend weekly services at the church, said his spokesman Art Franklin, according to an Associated Press story.
Long has denied allegations of sexual misconduct by four men, but in May 2011, the minister reached an out-of-court settlement with the former church members following months of mediation.
On Sunday, the church announced plans to reopen New Birth Academy Thursday, according to a report by Rolling Out.com. The school Long founded closed in December. The church cited the ailing economy and low enrollment as contributing factors for closing the school.

Bishop Eddie Long to Take ‘Brief Leave’…From New Birth
What a joke. Now…FINALLY he wants to act like he understands the distraction he has
been and the lives he has adversely affected. But even in “taking a leave” he remains defiant. See below…
From AJC:
___________
Bishop Eddie Long is taking a brief leave from the church he transformed into one of the nation’s biggest and most influential, telling congregants at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church Sunday he was going to use the time to heal his family.
“I’m still your pastor. You’ll still receive my direction,” Long said Sunday. “You’ve given me some weeks to take care of some family business.”
Long’s wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce late Thursday afternoon. She said Friday morning, via a statement prepared by the church’s spokesman, that she had changed her mind but by day’s end announced the divorce was on.
“Rumors that Bishop Eddie L. Long has stepped down as senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church are completely false,” according to a statement from the church. “As Bishop Long stated in his earlier comments, ‘Vanessa and I are working together in seeking God’s will in our current circumstances.’ As any loving and committed husband would do, Bishop Long will take some time to focus on his family but he will continue to be the senior pastor of New Birth.”
In remarks released Friday evening, Long said his love for his wife of 21 years is “deep and unwavering. It remains our sincere desire to continue working together in seeking God’s will in these circumstances.”
Long, with two of his children standing by his side, reaffirmed he had no plans to resign, adding he had not “stepped down” but instead “stepped up.”

The Divorce is Back on?! Vanessa Long Changes Mind…Again
Yes, Mo’Kelly knew about this latest change of events yesterday. But writing the same
story three times in a day as Vanessa Long kept changing her mind was not all that appealing.
So Mo’Kelly paused and slept on it, and allowed Vanessa the opportunity to sleep on it too. So yes, Mo’Kelly received all your emails and is aware of the latest…
THE DIVORCE IS BACK ON!
Mrs. Long continues to hope that this matter may be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously and fairly; however, she has determined that dismissal of her divorce petition is not appropriate at this time,” Kilpatrick Townsend partner Michael W. Tyler said in a prepared statement.
“To avoid any undue confusion, Mrs. Long’s future statements, if any, will be issued through her attorneys,”
(Meaning, New Birth won’t be allowed to play games…smart move.)
WHOO HOO!

Somebody Got to Her – Vanessa Long ‘Plans’ to Withdraw Divorce Petition!
Anybody who knows ANYTHING about a divorce knows that it takes weeks to appropriately draw up divorce papers, saying nothing of the millions of dollars of assets and child custody arrangements that must also be addressed.
Meaning, a decision (and action) to file for divorce in a situation such as this one does not happen in a fit of rage or emotional whimsicality.
Somebody must have gotten to Vanessa Long…
Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long.
I love my husband. I believe in him and admire his strength and courage.”
WHAT THE HELL?!
Divorce petition on THURSDAY, and belief, love and admiration on FRIDAY?!
Mo’Kelly is calling BS! This is some BS…all day everyday!

Vanessa Long Files for Divorce from Bishop Eddie Long!
The Mo’Kelly Report has been the LEADER in the coverage of the Bishop Eddie Long saga, BREAKING the story NATIONALLY that Vanessa Long had separated from Bishop Eddie.
In response, New Birth Ministries’ Art Franklin tried to disrespect the reporting of internet journalists generally and Mr. Mo’Kelly specifically with a bogus statement to the media.
Today it was revealed that Vanessa Long has filed for divorce.
It is moments like these that it is imperative that Mo’Kelly reminds the non-believers. There is a reason I’m Mr. Mo’Kelly and have my official neighborhood superhero business card. There is a reason why The Mo’Kelly Report is the most interesting blog in the world. There is a reason why Mr. Mo’Kelly prides himself on credible sources and solid reporting. It’s never been about being first with a story, but always about getting it right.
Below you will find the statement from Vanessa Long.
After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011,
It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously and fairly. I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter.”
Now…for the unbelievers, Mr. Mo’Kelly accepts your apology. Art Franklin, still waiting on yours. If you can publicly disrespect Mr. Mo’Kelly, you can surely publicly make amends. Mo’Kelly won’t hold his breath either way.
