Limbaugh Advertiser Defection List Now (AT LEAST) SEVENTEEN!
On Tuesday, Think Progress listed five additional companies who have vacated the show: AccuQuote, ServiceMagic, Polycom, Hadeed Carpet and Thompson Creek Windows.
The eight businesses join at least nine others (including AOL, parent company of The Huffington Post) in ending their association with Limbaugh’s show. Two radio stations have also dropped the program in the wake of Limbaugh’s comments about Fluke.
On Monday, Limbaugh addressed the advertisers leaving his show.
“They decided they don’t want you or your business anymore,” he said. “This program is always about you… I knew the political inclinations of these people. They didn’t care that they were profiting, and I didn’t either. No radio broadcast will succeed by putting business ahead of the needs of its loyal audience.”
UPDATE: On Tuesday afternoon, ThinkProgress listed nine other companies that have pulled out from Limbaugh’s show, or moved to make sure that their ads do not air during the program. Those companies are stamps.com, Deere & Co., Geico, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Connecticut, Bethesda Sedation Dentistry, Cascades Dental, Allstate, Sears and men’s retailer Bonobos.

Sandra Fluke Dismisses Limbaugh Apology – Lost Sponsor Count Now at 8
Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown University law school student at the heart of the debate over contraception, dismissed Rush Limbaugh’s apology for calling her a “slut.”
Fluke appeared on ABC’s “The View” on Monday to discuss Limbaugh’s apology, which she said she believes the conservative radio host only issued because of pressure from his show’s sponsors.
I don’t think that a statement like this, issued saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything. Especially when that statement is issued when he’s under significant pressure from his sponsors, who have begun to pull support from his show.”
Eight companies — including AOL, the parent company of The Huffington Post — have parted ways with Limbaugh since he made the harsh remarks about Fluke.
From AOL:
At AOL one of our core values is that we act with integrity. We have monitored the unfolding events and have determined that Mr. Limbaugh’s comments are not in line with our values. As a result we have made the decision to suspend advertising on The Rush Limbaugh Radio show.”
Fluke said she was “shocked and stunned” when she heard about Limbaugh’s comments.
I think any woman who has ever been called these types of names is [shocked] at first. But then I tried to see this for what it is, and I believe that what it is is an attempt to silence me, to silence the millions of women and the men who support them who have been speaking out about this issue and conveying that contraception is an important health care need that they need to have met in an affordable, accessible way.”

George Will and Other Conservative Pundits Blast Limbaugh
On Sunday, several pundits said they were dismayed by Rush Limbaugh’s incendiary
comments about Sandra Fluke, as well as Republicans for not repudiating his remarks more strongly.
Limbaugh sparked outrage when he called Sandra Fluke, a Georgetown law student who was not allowed to speak at a contraception hearing, “a slut” and “a prostitute.” He continued to fan the flames the next day, and piled on even more inflammatory remarks two days after. Several advertisers pulled their commercials from his show. In a rare move, Limbaugh apologized for his comments on Saturday.
The controversy was a hot topic of political conversation on Sunday. Speaking on ABC News’ “This Week,” Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan called Limbaugh’s remarks “crude, rude, even piggish,” and “deeply destructive and unhelpful.”
Panelist George Will went further, blasting Republicans for what he said was an inadequate response to the controversy. He said that House Speaker John Boehner’s use of the word “inappropriate” to describe Limbaugh’s language was more fitting for “using the salad fork for your entrée.”
“And it was depressing because what it indicates is that the Republican leaders are afraid of Rush Limbaugh,” Will alleged. “They want to bomb Iran, but they’re afraid of Rush Limbaugh.”

Limbaugh Apologizes for ‘Slut’ Remark…Advertisers Still Leave
As the controversy grew over Rush Limbaugh’s latest incendiary comments — he called law student and birth control advocate Sandra Fluke a “slut” on Wednesday–his show’s advertisers began to flee in droves.
On Saturday, Limbaugh apologized. But for at least one CEO, that wasn’t good enough.
David Friend, who runs the online backup company Carbonite, issued a statement on his company’s website saying that Carbonite would no longer advertise with Limbaugh despite the host’s rare admission of regret. From the website:
“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady. Mr. Limbaugh, with his highly personal attacks on Miss Fluke, overstepped any reasonable bounds of decency. Even though Mr. Limbaugh has now issued an apology, we have nonetheless decided to withdraw our advertising from his show. We hope that our action, along with the other advertisers who have already withdrawn their ads, will ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”
A Statement from Rush
I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit? In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone’s bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level.
My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.

GOP Goldfish Strategy – ‘Do as I Hate…Not as I Do’
These are just some observations from my little hole in the wall. Mo’Kelly just
wants to see how closely folks out there have been paying to the political discourse of recent months. Take away from these notes scribbled on the chalk board whatever you want, just know they are what they are. They, (the embedded links) speak for themselves.
Just the facts ma’am…just the facts. (And yes, a tiny bit of editorial.) Now, let’s see if you noticed the same things Mo’Kelly noticed.
Did you notice when Herman Cain suggested loyalty tests for Muslims, accused Black voters of being “brainwashed” or that he “left the Democratic plantation long ago” there was not one accusation from conservatives of Herman Cain supposedly “playing the race card.” And let’s not forget when Cain argued that President Obama “wasn’t a strong Black man.” We surely can’t forget THAT “non-race card” statement either.
Despite all of the aforementioned, did you notice that when Herman Cain later indicated the obvious, a rock painted with “N*****head” was “insensitive”…he was immediately accused of playing the race card and race baiting? One of his harshest critics for “playing the race card” was Rush Limbaugh, who just days earlier argued Cain was more “authentic” in his Blackness than President Obama. Yes, the White man was lecturing America on who is more “authentically” Black.
But days later…Limbaugh chastised Cain for that same supposed “authenticity.” Maybe Limbaugh didn’t get the note, but epithet of N***** has been “insensitive” for many centuries now.
Notice that? Mo’Kelly did.
Did you notice when Herman Cain said that racism doesn’t hold people back in a big way…this statement came after he said that Mitt Romney can’t win the South because of his Mormonism and that he is wary of Muslims building Mosques in America?
Strange, but Mo’Kelly doesn’t remember any Mormons getting lynched in the South…like…ever. Since when was there a “Mormon Strategy” regarding religion? The “Southern Strategy” regarding race is well-documented and led to a formal apology from then-RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman for its implementation and impact.
Mormonism matters more than color? Really Herman? Maybe if Black people simply “forgot” the 20th century this would be true.
Did you notice that the “non-race card playing, Muslim loyalty test administering” Herman Cain is for electrified fences on the U.S. southern border? (Yeah, he said he was only kidding, wink wink.)
Did you notice that George H.W. Bush cabinet member Bill Bennett, who in a recent CNN editorial said “don’t judge candidates by their faith” is the same Bill Bennett who chastised Barack Obama for sitting in Jeremiah Wright’s pew?
And speaking of Bennett’s aformentioned CNN editorial, did you notice his advice to Pastor Robert Jeffress, “I said to Jeffress, along with everyone else, “Do not give voice to bigotry. Remember George Washington, his manly advice to us, to despise all forms of racial and religious bigotry.”?
(That would be the same Bill Bennett, who said, “if that were your sole purpose — you could abort every Black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.” Yes, the bigot Bill Bennett was quoting George Washington, who owned some 316 African slaves, to use him as the yardstick to “despising” all forms of racial and religious bigotry. Doesn’t racialized human trafficking qualify one to check-mark “bigot” on a questionnaire?
Just asking the question…
Did you notice that Speaker Newt Gingrich, who had multiple, documented
adulterous affairs had this to say about President Obama’s father, (who he never met.)
This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anti-colonial ambitions, is now setting the nation’s agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son.”
Then, Newt really got warmed up and offered…
I have two grandchildren: Maggie is 11; Robert is 9. I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they’re my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.”
But, three months later weighed in on Mitt Romney’s Mormonism…
I think that none of us should sit in judgment of somebody else’s religion. And I thought it was very unwise and very inappropriate. [...] Mormons define themselves as a branch of Christianity. “
“Sit in judgment of someone else’s religion?” Philandering? Really Newt?
They call that “Do as I hate…not as I do.”
Noticed and noted Newt.
The GOP must assume Black people have the memory span of a gold fish and no internet access. That’s the only way such doublespeak might make sense.
Pay attention folks. The links don’t lie. (But GOP surely does.) ”Do as I hate…not as I do.”

Ratings for Limbaugh and Hannity Dip Severely Since 2010
The popularity of right-wing radio shows—including Rush Limbaugh’s and Sean Hannity’s afternoon programs—has declined steeply in recent months, according to a new report from Arbitron.
Limbaugh’s and Hannity’s WABC shows have been stuck in a ratings slump since last year’s midterm elections, with Limbaugh’s ratings dropping 33 percent from October, and Hannity’s falling 28 percent from its fall peak. Ratings for fellow conservative Mark Levin experienced a similar decline.
