GOP Goldfish Strategy – ‘Do as I Hate…Not as I Do’
These are just some observations from my little hole in the wall. Mo’Kelly just
wants to see how closely folks out there have been paying to the political discourse of recent months. Take away from these notes scribbled on the chalk board whatever you want, just know they are what they are. They, (the embedded links) speak for themselves.
Just the facts ma’am…just the facts. (And yes, a tiny bit of editorial.) Now, let’s see if you noticed the same things Mo’Kelly noticed.
Did you notice when Herman Cain suggested loyalty tests for Muslims, accused Black voters of being “brainwashed” or that he “left the Democratic plantation long ago” there was not one accusation from conservatives of Herman Cain supposedly “playing the race card.” And let’s not forget when Cain argued that President Obama “wasn’t a strong Black man.” We surely can’t forget THAT “non-race card” statement either.
Despite all of the aforementioned, did you notice that when Herman Cain later indicated the obvious, a rock painted with “N*****head” was “insensitive”…he was immediately accused of playing the race card and race baiting? One of his harshest critics for “playing the race card” was Rush Limbaugh, who just days earlier argued Cain was more “authentic” in his Blackness than President Obama. Yes, the White man was lecturing America on who is more “authentically” Black.
But days later…Limbaugh chastised Cain for that same supposed “authenticity.” Maybe Limbaugh didn’t get the note, but epithet of N***** has been “insensitive” for many centuries now.
Notice that? Mo’Kelly did.
Did you notice when Herman Cain said that racism doesn’t hold people back in a big way…this statement came after he said that Mitt Romney can’t win the South because of his Mormonism and that he is wary of Muslims building Mosques in America?
Strange, but Mo’Kelly doesn’t remember any Mormons getting lynched in the South…like…ever. Since when was there a “Mormon Strategy” regarding religion? The “Southern Strategy” regarding race is well-documented and led to a formal apology from then-RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman for its implementation and impact.
Mormonism matters more than color? Really Herman? Maybe if Black people simply “forgot” the 20th century this would be true.
Did you notice that the “non-race card playing, Muslim loyalty test administering” Herman Cain is for electrified fences on the U.S. southern border? (Yeah, he said he was only kidding, wink wink.)
Did you notice that George H.W. Bush cabinet member Bill Bennett, who in a recent CNN editorial said “don’t judge candidates by their faith” is the same Bill Bennett who chastised Barack Obama for sitting in Jeremiah Wright’s pew?
And speaking of Bennett’s aformentioned CNN editorial, did you notice his advice to Pastor Robert Jeffress, “I said to Jeffress, along with everyone else, “Do not give voice to bigotry. Remember George Washington, his manly advice to us, to despise all forms of racial and religious bigotry.”?
(That would be the same Bill Bennett, who said, “if that were your sole purpose — you could abort every Black baby in this country, and your crime rate would go down.” Yes, the bigot Bill Bennett was quoting George Washington, who owned some 316 African slaves, to use him as the yardstick to “despising” all forms of racial and religious bigotry. Doesn’t racialized human trafficking qualify one to check-mark “bigot” on a questionnaire?
Just asking the question…
Did you notice that Speaker Newt Gingrich, who had multiple, documented
adulterous affairs had this to say about President Obama’s father, (who he never met.)
This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anti-colonial ambitions, is now setting the nation’s agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son.”
Then, Newt really got warmed up and offered…
I have two grandchildren: Maggie is 11; Robert is 9. I am convinced that if we do not decisively win the struggle over the nature of America, by the time they’re my age they will be in a secular atheist country, potentially one dominated by radical Islamists and with no understanding of what it once meant to be an American.”
But, three months later weighed in on Mitt Romney’s Mormonism…
I think that none of us should sit in judgment of somebody else’s religion. And I thought it was very unwise and very inappropriate. [...] Mormons define themselves as a branch of Christianity. “
“Sit in judgment of someone else’s religion?” Philandering? Really Newt?
They call that “Do as I hate…not as I do.”
Noticed and noted Newt.
The GOP must assume Black people have the memory span of a gold fish and no internet access. That’s the only way such doublespeak might make sense.
Pay attention folks. The links don’t lie. (But GOP surely does.) ”Do as I hate…not as I do.”

Herman Cain’s Straw Poll Victory Signals Racist Republican Regression
In dating, there is an old axiom which says that if you want to know whether someone is marriage material, watch how s/he treats family. It may be nice that someone has taken personal interest in you; but what’s more important is how they treat others, unrelated to their particular interests.
The last part is key…”unrelated to their particular interests.”
When Herman Cain won the recent Florida Straw Poll, chants began to grow within the Republican party that the death of racism in both the GOP and America was official. The rationale being that if a Black man can win a GOP straw poll in the “South,” then clearly the content of one’s character has become the litmus test for America, superseding one’s skin color.
First, Florida is not “the South.” Geographically yes, but not in terms of historical political sensibilities. Florida’s electoral votes have gone to Jimmy Carter (1976), Bill Clinton (1996) and Barack Obama (2008). Florida historically has demonstrated no firm allegiance to either party, despite its geographical location and the Southern Strategy employed by the GOP.
The shortsightedness of proclaiming victory over racism through a singular vote has always blinded one from seeing the true nature of what separates us as people. A vote for one person is not a vote of confidence for the ethnicity he or she represents. It does not equate to tolerance or respect for the fullness of the American color spectrum. It in many ways can be an affirmation of the opposite. Some call it tokenism or political bait and switch. Call it what you want, just don’t call it substantive progress.
It is the presumption that singular individuals are worthy of acceptance, not the fullness of the ethnicity in which he/she represents. Let’s not delude ourselves. A couple thousand people voting for Herman Cain in Florida on a given day does not in any way invalidate the reality of the history leading up to this moment, both distant and recent.
The post-Dixiecrat GOP earned its reputation through many years of promulgating an anti-civil rights, xenophobic and Islamophobic agenda. Their hard work was not undone in one weekend in sunny Florida.
SB1070 really did happen. Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO) really did use “tar baby” in reference to President Obama. The Republican California Mayor Dean Grose really did step down for his White House watermelon patch email. This is not ancient history, but relatively recent short-list history.
But back to Herman Cain…
Along those lines, we can not disregard the fact that Cain espouses all of the same xenophobic and racist philosophies familiar to many in the GOP. It’s not that Republicans accept Herman Cain with no respect to color, au contraire. His acceptance is tied directly to the anti-Muslim and generally inflammatory rhetoric in historical lock-step with party values.
I am going to take extra precautions if a Muslim person who is competent wants to work in my administration.”
I think (President Obama is) out of the mainstream and always has been. Look, he was raised in Kenya, his mother was white from Kansas.”
- Herman Cain, June ,2011
The success of Herman Cain in Florida is not indicative of a repudiation of Republican racism, it’s the latest endorsement. Herman Cain doesn’t challenge historical Republican biases, he offers a leather couch for Republicans to become more comfortable with them.
Colorblind Republican party? Hardly. This is how Herman Cain treats his family and why he is largely rejected by African-Americans.
The reason why it’s called “racism” is because it is with respect to the whole of an ethnicity, not singular individuals in which you may find political common ground on a given occasion. For those of you whose “some of your best friends are Black,” pay particularly close attention. Voting for the Black man espousing racist ideals doesn’t make you less racist, it just means you voted for the Black man espousing racist ideals.
Muslim loyalty tests are by definition racist. Promoting the narrative that the president is less than American and grew up in some underdeveloped African nation is also racist. Voting in support of the candidate who supports such racist ideology is a far more compelling argument for Republican regression, than racial evolution.
Liking Herman Cain (or President Obama) is not tantamount to respect for African-Americans.
And so goes the misguided logic of the Republican party. It has yet to figure out that propping up singular individuals in no way obfuscates what the party is or what they’ve been. It is why candidates such as Cain, Michael Steele, Ken Blackwell, Lynn Swann, Alan Keyes et al. never seem to find real traction within the African-American community. Simply putting forth a Black face, trumpeting the same hateful or disparaging rhetoric does not make the Republican party less racist or African-Americans supposedly more unintelligent for remaining Democrat. It is just offering more of the same, just in a different colored gift wrap.
Take Congressman Allen West (R-FL) for example. He referred to fellow Congressman and Muslim Keith Ellison (D-MN) as the “antithesis of the principles on which this country was established”…with respect to his religion. As of other African-Americans more generally…
When Democratic party has taken the Black vote for granted and you have established certain Black leaders who are nothing more than the overseers of that plantation. And now the people on the plantation are upset because they have been disregarded, disrespected and their concerns are not cared about. So I’m here as the modern day Harriet Tubman who kind a lead people on the underground railroad away from that plantation into a sense of sensibility.”
- Congressman Allen West (R-FL), August, 2011
This is how Allen West treats his family. African-Americans would never allow a White politician to chastise African-Americans for allegedly remaining on a “Democratic plantation” or employing such racially-charged terminology to disrespect us. Why in the world should it then be considered less offensive coming from the likes of a Black one?
So no, Herman Cain winning the Florida Straw poll does not mean the end of racism any more than President Obama becoming the president of the United States did. In the history of this country, 35 women have served as governor of their respective state and three have run for Vice President of the United States of America. Nowhere and at no time did anyone so foolishly declare the end of sexism or gender inequality. The same reasoning should apply here.
Let’s not be so naïve to buy into the narrative that two thousand registered Republicans pulling a lever for Herman Cain in a non-official primary means the GOP world has changed. African-Americans collectively have not gained the respect of America generally or the Republican Party more specifically.

Bachmann’s Early Success Could Mean Sarah Palin Candidacy…YES!
Let’s go Michele Bachmann! Push ‘em out, shove ‘em out…WAYYYYY OUT!
Yes, you read that correctly. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s Iowa Straw Poll victory wasn’t only great news for the Bachmann campaign, it was also tremendous news for the Sarah Palin “campaign.” Which a priori is wonderful news for President Obama’s re-election bid.
A vote for Bachmann, is a step closer to a Palin candidacy/nomination. Nothing in this world would make me happier than Sarah Palin declaring her candidacy for president of these United States. And the southern evangelicals think God doesn’t have a sense of humor! Bite your tongue and hush yo’ mouth!
Maybe it’s wishful thinking but all the signs are there. Palin was on a reconnaissance mission in Iowa last weekend, looking to gain insight as to the viability of the Palin name in middle-America.
Bachmann may be the Tea Party Caucus chair in Washington, but Palin is for many the titular head of the movement nationwide. It begs the question, does Bachmann derive her presidential support due to the absence of Sarah Palin or in preference over her?
I say the former and not the latter.
The recent debate performance by Bachmann suggests that her voting base is enamored with the idea of her “principled leadership.”
Hold your jokes, I’m getting there.
Mo’Kelly said THE IDEA of her “principled leadership.” not the contradicting reality. Tim Pawlenty tried unsuccessfully to clue in the Republicans that Bachmann is running on rhetoric, not her actual record (which boasts zero political victories of note.)
But Republicans are consistent, they aren’t interested in facts and that bodes VERY well for a Palin candidacy. Please God, have mercy upon the Democrats and allow this to happen.
Bachmann wants to have it both ways. She wishes to campaign on the ideological platform of “sending a message” to Washington, but also wants you to forget that her office is also located in Washington. Yes, Republicans were never ones to let simple minutia like that get in the way. Remember, this is the party which brought you both The Birthers and the Iraq War. Facts are not their strong suit.
O.J. Simpson will find “the real killers” right around the time George W. Bush finds the Iraq WMDs.
But I digress. Maybe it’s just Mo’Kelly, but Bachmann seems every bit the diet version of Sarah Palin.
All of the intolerance, with just half the fallacies.”
For as extreme as the Congresswoman may seem at times, she’s not Sarah Palin. Palin is in a padded room of a hospital wing all by herself. She worked very hard to earn that distinction, let’s not take it away from her now.
You can’t spell “simpleton” without an “S” and a “P.”
And Sarah Palin probably couldn’t spell it…well, at all…even with a dictionary.
But I again digress.
As long as Palin remains on the periphery as a pundit and not a presidential candidate, Bachmann is arguably the best Tea Party option amongst this field of uncharismatic, post-Reagan conservatives. That simply can not happen. Heaven is oh so close.
Palin is who the Tea Party wants. Hell, Palin is who I want. Palin is who the Tea Party deserves. And I absolutely mean that in the most loving yet condescending way.
Give the people what they want!
I want Sarah Palin on national television debating Michele Bachmann, vying for the title of Republican nominee most anti-Islamic, anti-Gay, anti-African-American, anti-working class, xenophobic human in all America. Somebody is taking home that trophy, let’s just make sure the best are on the field when it is handed out. That’s why the Republican presidential nomination should be set up like the BCS. #1 plays #2. Like college football, if we can’t get a playoff, this is the next best thing. And you can even hold it in the Cotton Bowl…for obvious and symbolic 20th century Republican reasons. Do the math.
Congresswoman Bachmann garnering the nomination taking home the title of “Most Hateful Republican” without Sarah Palin opposing her is like the Houston Rockets winning the NBA Championship while Michael Jordan is on a baseball diamond…as in worthy of an asterisk. Democrats need to show some spine and get in line with this idea. A campaign donation for Bachmann is a vote of confidence for Sarah Palin. Let nature take its course after that.
The Tea Party deserves better and so does Reality TV. We could feature it on NatGeo, sandwiched in-between all those prison shows. Sambo’s…er uh, Denny’s restaurants could be the title sponsor. You’ve got to see the bigger picture Democrats.
Football would have the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl…Republicans would have the Republican National Convention Denny’s Hate Bowl.
Palin says she will make a final decision by the end of September. Dear God, please let this happen. In fact, I don’t know if this falls under God’s or Santa Claus’ purview. But just to be sure, I’ll be both praying and emailing the North Pole under separate cover.
Glory Hallelujah and Deck the Halls!
For the next 30 days, I’m all about Team Bachmann. See the big picture Democrats…see the big picture.

Skinhead Knocked Unconscious By Black Man After Threatening to Stab Him
BWUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
A self-proclaimed skinhead was knocked unconscious by a black man after threatening to stab him last weekend in Bayview, Idaho, officials said Friday.
Daren Christopher Abbey, 28, was booked into jail on malicious harassment charge after being treated at a hospital for facial fractures, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department.
Abbey is accused of threatening to stab Marlon L. Baker, 46, inside J.D.’s Resort July 3 in Bayview after telling him he didn’t belong in the bar because he was black, said Lt. Stu Miller.
Baker left the bar to avoid a fight, but Abbey followed to a marina about 300 yards away, called him racial slurs and again threatened to stab him.
“He said black people don’t belong in Bayview,” Miller said.
Baker punched Abbey ONCE in the face, knocking him to the ground unconscious.
Sheriff’s officials already were in Bayview patrolling the Independence Day weekend festival that included a boat parade that night. Miller said they arrived about 8:50 p.m. to find Abbey unconscious.
Abbey apparently was unaware of the writing on the back of Baker’s t-shirt: “Spokane Boxing Club champion.”
“If he had been able to read that maybe he wouldn’t have done that,” Miller said.
Full story HERE.
And no, I don’t endorse all of the language in this video…but it immediately came to mind…those who’ve seen the movie Friday already know what is about to be played.

Yearning for the Good Ol’ Days of Slavery
Well the GOP has done it again. Presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum, recently
signed a controversial marriage “pledge.” Part of the document alleges that the family situation of African-American children living under slavery was superior or preferential to today. Meaning, Black slave children allegedly had stronger families than free ones today.
Of course I was personally offended, that’s not the point. To allege slavery was either a step up or an improvement of the present-day plight of African-Americans is ridiculous and whoever utters it is worthy of ridicule.
Such is the obvious response to stupidity.
What is receiving less attention is the ongoing and overt disregard of African-Americans by the Republican Party. It’s the 21st century (believe it or not.) It’s not just the birther movement and their barbs against the President. It’s the present presidential candidates knowingly playing to the ignorance of the Republican base. Why the GOP is so reluctant in joining the rest us here in documented history is beyond explanation. You can be sure, no suggestion that the Holocaust was a relative positive would ever be used in conjunction with public policy. How African-Americans manage to continue to be defecated on by the GOP I’m not quite sure.
In other recent news, “former” Klansmen and present GOP member David Duke announced his presidential candidacy. And wow, lookie here…he has Tea Party support. Imagine that.
It’s almost a coincidence…uh…no not really.
It’s indicative of a recurring theme and a mood in this country. The GOP is content to rewrite American history to suit its interests, in the hopes of telling a narrative which fits a political agenda. From Paul Revere to John Adams and now slavery; the GOP wants to be perceived as the party of American ideals, just without all the fuss of either being historically accurate or something less than detestable.
These two pieces of information (Bachmann and Duke) may be ostensibly unrelated, but surely connected in a political sense. They speak to the larger disregard and disrespect of the African-American electorate.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich recently told a mostly-white audience that African-Americans are so angry at President Obama we’re prime to vote for a Republican; but failed to check with any of us as to the reality of the former or the fantasy of the latter.
The GOP has disrespected the president and voters along the lines of race and then has the unmitigated gall to look surprised when Herman Cain garners little traction in our community. Next thing you know, the GOP will argue that a monument to Dr. King is unnecessary and redundant in Washington, since we already had the “Faithful Groomsman” lawn jockey sculpture at Mount Vernon.
When you’re allowed to rewrite history at your whim, everything is on the table.
Such is the inherent danger of trying to co-opt the legacy of the founding ideals of this country. Slavery too was a founding ideal. It’s a bit disingenuous to talk about the founding principles of the United States of America and conveniently leave out the institution which helped the country descend into civil war. One can not tell the story of the formation of the United States of America and not also include slavery.
If America is a great country (and she is), its rise to prominence will forever be linked to the centuries of free labor which built it…White House included.
African-Americans by and large will grant present-day politicians a free pass in celebration of the founding ideals in a general sense. Just don’t try to put a new spin on slavery. Families were separated, mothers and daughters were raped. There is no way to go gift wrap it and re-present with a cute bow on top.
To not know better is ignorance of the highest order. You would have no business as my president. To use it as a talking point on family values and marriage to score with voters is nothing short of unforgivable. Either way, such a candidate would have no business as my president.
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann believed or endorsed an erroneous and romanticized view of slavery; but I am to trust her judgment on issues of greatest importance of African-Americans in 2012 and beyond?
Not happening.
How many times is the GOP going to be allowed to do this? How many times are they going to be allowed to openly disrespect African-Americans, while simultaneously winking to White Republicans?
Nobody in the GOP leadership seems to understand that you can’t consistently and continuously disrespect Black voters and use that as your main selling point in gaining Black votes. The arrogance and ignorance are both astounding and compounding as we reach the primary season.
The next time a conservative alleges African-Americans have played the race card, politely remind them of the revisionist American history the GOP is selling; complete with slavery and misguided entitlement references.

Fox Business Channel’s Bolling: ‘Obama Was Chugging 40s’ (VIDEO)
But of course…this isn’t racist. Never is according to Fox. If you wish to disagree with the policies of the President, then by all means make your case. The moment you need to resort to stereotypical imagery depicting the worst of African-Americans to make that same case…you are rightfully called out.
And still, there are those who will continue to allege that Fox is a “news” channel. It’s nowhere close.

The Pseudo “Black Women are Less Attractive” Controversy
Mo’Kelly has received all sorts of emails regarding the article which ran in Psychology Today last week which argued the supposed inferior beauty of Black women.
Some emails implored Mo’Kelly to craft a response, others forwarded their responses they also emailed the author and/or publisher. I thought about crafting a response…for a moment.
A brief moment.
There are times when something is not worth your time and extensive effort. This would be one of them. The Mo’Kelly Report is about the business of offering different entry points into discussions and raising the quality of the conversation.
I’m not going to “debate” the validity of a ridiculous formulation, based purely in racial animus and flawed methodology. It is no different than engaging the topic of “Black intellectual inferiority” and there are plenty of simpletons out there with PhDs willing to advance such theories.
If this psychology expert believes that Black women are less physically attractive (for whatever reason)…so be it. Go publish your theory in your journal and wonder why you can’t get a date with any woman (Black or otherwise).
More for me.
I love Sistahs just the way they are and Mo’Kelly doesn’t need to justify it or scientifically analyze it in any way.
But this does need to be said…
If Black women are somehow the least attractive of all women, then somebody needs to explain the historical success of tanning salons, the staying power of the hair perm, the craze of collagen injections to the lips, butt implants and the whole country of Brazil.
(Mo’Kelly has a weird predilection with the beauty of Brazilian women…don’t ask.)
Invariably, some will visit this post and wonder what in the hell Mo’Kelly is talking about in the first place. To that end, here is a link to a copy of the article as the original has been removed (imagine that.). Let’s not get caught up in debating or responding to foolishness.
