LOS ANGELES (April 2, 2013) The Mo’Kelly Show celebrates its one-year anniversary on top Los Angeles talk station KFI-AM640 on Saturday April 6 from 6-8pm PDT.

Over the past 12 months, guests have included NAACP president Ben Jealous, Pleasanton Tea Party president Dr. Bridget Melson, members of Congress, state leadership from both the Democratic and Republican parties and entertainment guests such as actresses Gabrielle Union and Tamara Tunie, comedian Cedric the Entertainer and musicians Joe Sample and Eric Benét.

Morris O’Kelly (Mo’Kelly), also hosts various mornings on KTLK-AM1150 and serves as American political correspondent for the BBC.  This in conjunction with his vast experience previously producing radio programs for Jim Rome, Ryan Seacrest and Tavis Smiley has helped formulate a well-rounded, entertaining and informative program each week.

“Sports, entertainment and politics have all been part of our daily discussions; ones which move back and forth between any and all of them.  Why not offer a program which consistently touches upon ALL of these daily conversations we have, in a respectful, enlightening manner?  Where else on radio can you routinely find lively and smart discourse regarding the gridiron, the gridlock in Washington and what’s lighting up Hollywood’s entertainment grid other than ‘The Mo’Kelly Show?’”

Saturday’s anniversary program will be a retrospective of the best moments from the previous twelve months.  Some are thought-provoking, while others, thoroughly humorous.  All two hours will be testament to the fact that Los Angeles radio has ample room for voices and views less-often heard, expressed from vantage points less-frequently acknowledged.

The Mo’Kelly Show, hosted by Morris O’Kelly and executive produced by Tawala Sharp is an African-American-themed mix of politics, entertainment, sports and irreverence; committed to raising the caliber of the public discourse.  The program prides itself on promoting civility and personal responsibility, not partisan ideology.  It airs Saturdays from 6-8pm on KFI-AM640 and iheartradio™.  It is syndicated in cooperation with Premiere Radio Networks, airing on XM 166, Saturdays and Sundays from 8-9pm PDT.

KFI (640 AM) and KTLK (1150 AM) talk host Morris O’Kelly, known to his fans as ‘Mo’Kelly,’ took time out from his busy schedule to participate in San Pedro High School’s annual Career Day Nov. 15.

I was fortunate enough to have him visit my fourth-period class.

To give you an idea of the type of person O’Kelly is, when I first asked him to visit, he said yes without hesitation … even before he knew the date. And he had to take time off from his job to attend. When I tried to thank him, he turned it around to thank me.

“I have a duty to be an example in the community,” he said. “You gave me an opportunity to do just that.”
