‘Lost’ Star Matthew Fox Arrested for Punching FEMALE Bus Driver…IN THE CROTCH
Mo’Kelly wants to be out in front of this. Let the comparisons to Chris Brown
begin. Let’s collectively examine how the media addresses this issue, the subsequent revelations/apologies and where it goes for Fox’s career from here.
Right now, the score is zero-zero. We will see if this negatively impacts Fox’s career (regardless of court outcome). Will there be an apology tour? Will there be an interview with Good Morning America?
There will not be any Monday Morning Quarterbacking in The Mo’Kelly Report. We will follow this story step-by-step.
It is though indicated that the bus driver might have BROKEN HER HAND in punching Fox back. According to Borman, Fox was punching her in her CROTCH!
WOWZERS!

Lost” actor Matthew Fox was arrested after allegedly punching the female bus driver of a party bus, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In attempt to return to his hotel in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday night, Fox reportedly struck the
driver in the chest and stomach after she refused to allow him aboard the vehicle, TMZ reports – Fox was not a part of the private party that had rented out the bus.
The 29-year-old driver also landed a blow to Fox’s face — and may have broken her hand in the process. Fox has been released to a friend following his arrest. But Fox’s victim, Heather Bormann, has since spoken out about the actor’s violent outburst: “This was my self-defense,” Bormann told TMZ. “This was the only way I could protect myself … from a man beating up on a woman.”

Another Day, Another Chris Brown Apology
No, Mo’Kelly didn’t miss this story…just busy in the non-virtual world. Once
again, Chris Brown is back in trouble for saying and doing the wrong thing in public view.
If you know the words to this song, feel free to sing along.
On Wednesday, Chris Brown became the latest celebrity to apologize to the LGBT community for using a gay slur in anger. The singer issued a Twitter mea culpa for an incident on Tuesday in which he lashed out at several photographers in Los Angeles whom he believed had tipped off parking-enforcement officers to his illegally parked car, saying, “Y’all n—as is weak. Did you call them to try and film me? Y’all n—as is gay!”
The comments came just days after comedian Tracy Morgan met with LGBT youth in New York following his anti-gay rant during a recent stand-up appearance, which earned the “30 Rock” star widespread scorn from the gay community for his seeming advocacy of violence against gay youth.
The Human Rights Campaign told TMZ that “invoking words to demean gay Americans is just plain unacceptable … Brown should know better.”
Brown, who has made outrageous digital comments before — including a homophobic attack on former B2K singer Raz B in December — only toask forgiveness for them a short time later, issued an apology on Twitter on Wednesday night, writing, “I have total respect for Gay community and my intention was not to insult anyone in it.”

Russell Simmons – Start Telling the Truth
Eventually Russell Simmons will get around to telling the truth. It probably
won’t be anytime soon, but there’s always hope, as slim as it might be.
Simmons is by most accounts the ambassador and titular head of hip hop. From his role in the development of the landmark music label Def Jam records with Rick Rubin in the 80s, to the eponymous Broadway and HBO spoken word program Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam; Simmons has led the evolution of hip hop each step of the way.
Even today, his news and entertainment website Globalgrind.com is arguably the leader for all things pop and political and their sometimes curious intersection. Despite Simmons’ illustrious and unparalleled impact on popular culture, he’s been historically loathe to tell the truth. Recently Ashley Judd apologized for remarks relating to her reticence to work with
YouthAIDS, because of its affiliation with Snoop Dogg and Sean “Diddy” Combs.
As far as I’m concerned, most rap and hip-hop music — with its rape culture and insanely abusive lyrics and depictions of girls and women as ‘hos’ — is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny.”
Although we should be able to agree that the phrase “rape culture” may be hyperbolic and incendiary, the rest of Judd’s quote is accurate. Russell Simmons, who although was kind enough to publish Judd’s apology, has yet to get around to using his influence to address, acknowledge or more importantly admonish the hip hop community for its deplorable treatment of women.
Eventually Russell Simmons will get around to telling the truth. It just won’t be anytime soon.
March 15, 2011 – Simmons published an editorial detailing the cold shoulder comedian Bill Cosby gave him recently, allegedly related to an ongoing dispute over the imagery and impact of hip hop on youth. Instead of acknowledging the truth and accuracy of Cosby’s criticisms, Simmons chose instead to focus on Cosby’s profanity and dismissive attitude towards him.
When I look back, I feel remorse for judging him (Cosby). And it has been a source of a “rap beef” for years. He has been critical of the poets but I have maintained that the entertainment, especially most of the poets, are simple reflections of cultures of truth.”
How Simmons managed to bypass and step across the historical vulgarity of hip hop to chastise Bill Cosby for his use of profanity is not only hypocritical, it’s hysterically laughable. In addition, euphemistically characterizing rappers as “poets” to obfuscate hip hop reality is another distortion of the very “truth” he purports hip hop represents. Nevertheless, Simmons’ version of the “truth” always stops short of critical analysis of the hip hop genre.
Remember, Simmons was clear… “I have maintained that the entertainment, especially most of the poets, are simple reflections of cultures of truth.”
Hip hop degrading women is not reflective of any truth, with the exception of the permissive nature of the ONLY music genre which employs and celebrates it. It is neither appreciated nor acceptable in the real world where the rest of us live; only in hip hop…and that’s the truth…Russell.
March 24, 2011 – Simmons came to the defense of social pariah Chris Brown with the editorial, Chris Brown: When Fame Snatches Your Freedom
I sat with Chris Brown, one of the greatest performing artists of his time, during his celebration dinner for the release of his new album, F.A.M.E. I know that this young man’s dancing, singing and art are his prayers. Without them, he’s left to deal with a cluttered world in a way that is far too complicated than he imagined when he was a 13-year-old kid with a dream of being famous. I am troubled by the people, critics and members of the media who drag Chris away from his art. His freedom is deeply rooted in his artistic expression. It is during those seconds of stillness when you’re dancing that the Christ/Buddha/Allah/Moses inside of you is awakened and comes to power.”
Not only did Simmons manage to avoid offering any thoughts on the evils of domestic violence against women, he even placed blame with those who find fault with Brown for punching out Rihanna or the windows while at Good Morning America.
“It is during those seconds of stillness when you’re dancing that the Christ/Buddha/Allah/Moses inside of you is awakened and comes to power.”
- Russell Simmons on Chris Brown
Russell…care to comment on what Christ/Buddha/Allah/Moses might have to say about beating the snot out of a woman? Mic checka…1-2-1-2 (Mo’Kelly hands Simmons the microphone).
Didn’t think so…
If misogyny were a drug, Simmons would be the chief enabler for the user, the head lobbyist on Capitol Hill for the legislator and the top neighborhood dealer.
One’s art is never explanation , or justification for criminal behavior. This applies to Charlie Sheen, Roman Polanski and most definitely Chris Brown. Russell Simmons is simply not interested in telling the truth about hip hop or the misogyny found within it. He is complicit in its promulgation and it’s time SOMEBODY told the truth. Mo’Kelly needs to say it again…
If misogyny were a drug, Simmons would be the chief enabler for the user, the head lobbyist on Capitol Hill for the legislator and the top neighborhood dealer.
Let’s now go deeper on this search for “truth.”
The powerful messages and imagery of hip hop don’t only have deleterious effects on the masses, but also the messengers who impart them. The lines between artistry and reality have been blurred to the point that hip hop artists by and large are destined to become imprisoned, broke, or both.
In the first 3.5 months of 2011, the first 100 days, the following rappers…er uh, POETS have been arrested.

That is just a short list of those in jail or on their way to jail in the first 100 days of 2011. The list does not include those recently released (i.e. Lil Wayne, Prodigy, Mystikal, Shyne, Da Brat et al.)
Maybe if Ashley Judd changed “rape culture” to “drug and prison culture” there would have been little blowback from hip hop POET apologists.
If it’s about detailing the “simple reflections of cultures of truth” then let’s do that. Clearly Simmons isn’t about the business of engaging hip hop in a dialogue which involves critical self-analysis. Might as well be Mo’Kelly then. Simmons will likely tell you that “fame” snatched away all of their freedom too and we as law-abiding citizens should be loathe to criticize them or their criminal behavior. Don’t hate Mo’Kelly Russell, he’s just a “poet of prose” shining a light on the truth.
Ashley Judd should not have apologized for telling the truth. The historical treatment of women in relation to hip hop is indefensible. The uncritical, irresponsible complicity of Russell Simmons is equally undeniable.
Eventually Russell Simmons will get around to telling the truth. On second thought, make that “hopefully.”
No guarantees.

Mo’Kelly Interviews Actor Brian White (AUDIO)
Some know him from movies such as Stomp the Yard, Fighting, Mr. 3000
and Tyler Perry’s I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Others know him from his co-starring roles on such TV shows as Men of a Certain Age and The Shield.
Actor, model and dancer Brian White is a Dartmouth-educated, former NFL drafted, former stock broker and present youth advocate. If there is anybody who is actively destroying Black stereotypes on and off the screen it is Brian White.
White’s Bio HERE.
These are the types of individuals we should be uplifting in our community, point blank.
These days White is starring alongside Destiny Child’s Michelle Williams in the nationally touring stage play, David E. Talbert Presents, What My Husband Doesn’t Know and Mo’Kelly got his thoughts on his latest venture, the work of his foundation, the Phunk Phenomenon Urban Dance Theater and the music in heavy rotation on his iPod. Brian White has a WIDE array of music in which he listens…good stuff!

Chris Brown to Perform on DWTS – Host Bergeron ‘Hesitant’
Maybe this is the “unfairness” in which Brown was referring. He busts the
windows out of ABC studios and is still allowed to perform on DWTS. Very few people, Black or White would have such an opportunity still handed to him.
Evidently host Tom Bergeron isn’t all that comfortable with having Brown on the program either.
I did tell the producers it may be to their advantage to not have me interview him, because my natural tendency would be to say something, so don’t put me in a position where you are asking me to not say something, because I really won’t do that.”
Story HERE.
In other news…Brown’s publicist (Tammy Brook) quit on him. No surprise there. The only real surprise is her hanging in this long.

Soulbounce.com Editorial on Chris Brown – BRILLIANT
Chris Alexander can write his a$$ off. Mo’Kelly has NO problem propping other
writers and this guy is really, really talented. Writers are at their best when they find their “voice,” expressing themselves in a manner uniquely their own. When a writer is successful in creating or finding it, the words flow like music, complete with melody, harmony and meter.
This latest piece by Alexander is in Mo’Kelly’s estimation one beautiful symphony. Mo’Kelly encourages you all to check him out on http://soulbounce.com or http://coloredboy.net

_____________
Dear Chris Brown,
Well, you’ve done it now, Goldilocks. You tarnished what was supposed to be a day of self-celebration and album promotion, effectively erasing a public journey of alleged improvement, I’m-better-nows, and distraction from less-than-flattering events with the blink of an eye. Or launching of a chair. Whichever. Details.
Yesterday you hit up Good Morning America for an interview and performance. Rather than focus exclusively on F.A.M.E., your electronic hodgepodge of an album, anchorwoman Robin Roberts dove into your troubled past, much to your dismay. So now you’re mad. You’re a victim. You were ambushed! Let’s get back to the album! What do you do? You trash your dressing room, smash a window, ditch your second scheduled performance, and storm out of ABC studios shirtless on some Albino Hulk sh!t.
You are awesome.
Nevermind that Rihanna was a pre-approved topic of discussion. It’s no secret that the media training you lack would teach you to tactfully and respectfully dodge tricky questions. Since there seems to be little grooming happening, here we are, and there you sit, blond and bitter. Mad at the world. Defending your actions. Again.
Surrounding yourself with the homies and Yes People works well for video game tournaments and chipping in for pizza, but not so much for resurrecting and maintaining a career you are blessed to even still have. It’s quite evident nobody is keeping it real with you, so allow me to break a few things down.
Let me get the requisite positivity out of the way: Yes, you are immensely talented. Okay? Now, on to the advice:

Chris Brown Flips Out After Good Morning America Interview
Chris Brown is now the resident authority on career
self-sabotage. It’s not easy to do and Brown is about the best there is. Lindsay Lohan is up there. T.I. definitely deserves to be in the conversation too but neither had attained the heights of Brown before flushing it down the toilet.
Mo’Kelly…right again!
From Entertainment Weekly
Chris Brown flew into a rage on the set of Good Morning America earlier today, smashing a window and storming out of the studio shirtless after the interviewer kept directing the conversation back to his felony assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna two years ago.
The 21-year-old R&B singer waited until his interview and first performance was over before storming into his dressing room, where insiders say he began shouting and tearing it apart.
Before ABC’s building security arrived, Brown somehow shattered the window in his dressing room, smashing it up enough that glass fell onto the sidewalk below. Brown then tore off his shirt and left the building before a second scheduled performance. Watch the interview below:
The tension started when GMA co-anchor Robin Roberts asked Brown if he had seen Rihanna since she dropped her restraining order against him last month.
“Not really,” answered Brown. “It’s not really a big deal to me now, that situation… I think I’m past that in my life. Today is the album day that’s what I’m focusing on. Everyone go get that album!”
After explaining that his album title F.A.M.E. stood for “Forgiving All My Enemies,” Roberts directed the talk back to his assault, saying, “You can understand how some people… it was very serious what you went through and what happened.”
Not willing to let the conversation drift back to his felony, Brown responded, “Definitely this album is what I want to talk about and not stuff that happened two years ago.”
After he left the studio, Brown pulled a classic Tweet-then-delete: “I’m so over people bringing this past s**t up!!! Yet we praise Charlie Sheen and other celebs for there [sic] bulls**t.”
Aside from wondering exactly from what quarters Brown is hearing praise for Charlie Sheen, what do you think of his behavior? Will it affect the sales of his new album, out now? Should it?
____________
For all those of you who wanted to argue tooth and nail with Mo’Kelly that Michael Vick should have done the interview with Oprah…let the latest failing of Chris Brown prove Mo’Kelly’s point.
Chris Brown first should have known his audience. Good Morning America is not and will not be interested in having Brown on simply because he’s releasing a CD. If Brown didn’t know that, his management team should have made it clear to him. It’s Good Morning America, not BET’s 106th and Park. The program’s demographic (like The Oprah Winfrey Show) would better know “Brown the batterer” than “Brown the musician.” Brown’s domestic violence case transcended age and race demographics, his music does not and will not.
Know your audience.
Teeny boppers and college-age adults don’t largely watch Good Morning America. They are either in school (as they should be) or watching BET/MTV to find out the latest goings on in music…NOT GMA. GMA does not cater its programming to the interviewee, but to its audience.
Know your audience.
Most importantly, it is an interview and that is far different than a paid advertisement. The Rihanna incident was a huge one and will be forever connected to Brown’s career and musical obit. Robin Roberts has a professional duty to ask the question. He is free not to answer or tap dance around it, but the media is not a one-way street. You can’t come on GMA and “only” sell your CD. Roberts has an ethical duty to ask the question because it is newsworthy and of importance to her GMA audience which tunes in every morning to see what she brings to the table too, not just the guest. Otherwise GMA is just BET, licking the boots of Brown…again.
Know your audience and know who is interviewing you.
Without belaboring the point, Brown once again proved Mo’Kelly right. He has serious emotional issues and is unfit for superstardom. If you are busting out windows because you were ASKED questions about Rihanna, then clearly your anger management certificate means nothing and doubts about your apology have been confirmed.
Like Mo’Kelly said before…nice way to throw away a career. Will he sell CDs? Yes. Will he ever become the mainstream star he thinks he is? Absolutely not and it’s nobody’s fault but his own.
