GOP Solidifies Racist Hold on 20th Century
If you were in any way unclear why the Republican Party is unable to build any measurable minority base…let’s just review recent history. This isn’t 1964 Mississippi…this is 2009 with an African-American president. Yes, the GOP is clinging tightly to the 20th century. God bless their little racist hearts. They’re so cute, yes they are (pinching their cheeks).
Let’s review the past 12 months through the eyes of GOP racism at its unparalleled best. OF COURSE the GOP does poorly recruiting African-Americans. Who in the hell wants to be associated with a party without outright contempt for you and anyone who looks like you? And Mo’Kelly is only referencing the PUBLIC gaffes by party leadership. Mind you, this is all POST the death of Jesse Helms.
Keep it up Republicans, you’ve just ensured another 50 years of African-American loyalty to the Democratic Party. That stale argument of Democrats taking African-Americans for granted is lukewarm on its best day, especially when we have this RECENT history in which to prove that the Republican Party is and will always be the party of “Southern Politics.”
Yes, welcome to the “post-racial” America of the 21st century. We may be in the 21st century, but the GOP has a stranglehold on 1964 and just won’t let it and the rest of the 20th century go.
6.17.09 – JUST ADDED! – South Carolina GOP operative tweets…
“JUST HEARD OBAMA IS GOING TO IMPOSE A 40% TAX ON ASPIRIN BECAUSE IT’S WHITE AND IT WORKS.”
6.16.09 – Tennessee GOP staffer emailed the “Spook” President photo

Sherri Goforth
Sherri Goforth, an executive assistant for Tennessee State Rep. Diane Black (R-Gallatin), sent this picture out to other legislative staffers.
Goforth admitted to sending the email, but she apologized only for sending it to the wrong people.
“I went on the wrong email and I inadvertently hit the wrong button,” Goforth said.
“I’m very sick about it, and it’s one of those things I can’t change or take back.”

Spook Jokes in the 21st Century?!
6.15.09 – South Carolina GOP operative
Rusty DePass
Over the weekend, a gorilla escaped from a zoo in Columbia, and according to the New York Daily News, DePass just couldn’t resist what he saw as the perfect opportunity for humor, updating his status message to read,
“I’m sure it’s just one of (First Lady) Michelle’s ancestors – probably harmless.”
6.4.09 - GOP operative Manuel Miranda

Manuel Miranda
“By the way, Hispanic polls, Hispanic surveys, indicate that Hispanics think just like everyone else.
We’re not like African Americans. We think just like everybody else.”
5.4.09 - GOP Chairman Michael Steele plays Magic Negro Card
2.27.09 – Republican California mayor Dean Grose and the “Watermelon Patch” email photo attachment

White House "Watermelon Patch"
12.27.08 – RNC Chairman candidate Chip Saltsman plays Magic Negro card
Chip Saltsman, the former Tennessee state Republican chairman who ran Mike Huckabee’s underfunded but shrewd bid for the GOP’s presidential nomination. Remember him? Saltsman wanted to be Republican national chairman, and, apparently as part of his campaign, he sent his associates a Christmas gift consisting of songs by the satirist Paul Shanklin.
The title track, sung in a voice meant to impersonate Al Sharpton, is Barack the Magic Negro. It parodies then president-elect as a Black man acceptable to whites. Another song, Star Spanglish Banner, disparages Latinos.
10.17.08 – Republican website encourages “torture” of Obama
9.6.08 – Obama called ‘uppity’ by Republican Congressman
“Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they’re a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they’re uppity,” Westmoreland said.
Asked to clarify that he used the word “uppity,” Westmoreland said, “Uppity, yeah.”
4.12.08 – Republican

Geoff Davis (R-CA)
Congressman calls Obama ‘boy.’

Geoff Davis (R-CA)
At an April 12 event in his district, Kentucky Rep. Geoff Davis (R) said of Obama: “I’m going to tell you something: That boy’s finger does not need to be on the button.
He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country.”
7.22.08 – Republican state senator directly compares Obama and “Osama”

Feel free to share this with your Black Republican friends…all 3 of them.

GOP Chairman Michael Steele Plays Obama "Magic Negro" Card

GOP Chairman Michael Steele
If Mo’Kelly’s lyin’…he’s flying. Check out the audio below. Now, there’s nothing wrong with critical analysis of the President’s policies and general ideology. But to publicly stoke the Chip Saltsman fires of racial/political discontent to appear more “down” with the Republican far-right is simply unacceptable.
Mo’Kelly would never call Michael Steele a “sellout,” a “handkerchief head” or anything else so patently derisive as other Black media outlets have done. Steele as the leader of the GOP should not be further demeaned and emasculated beyond what the party has already done to him.
BUT…
Mo’Kelly WILL say this…
If the GOP was of the opinion that it should be more inclusive and was bent on distancing itself from the racialized politics of yesteryear…it has only ensured that African-Americans will continue to vote Democrat en masse for ANOTHER 40 years. And when “We” do, don’t even have the unmitigated gall to ask why…or ask for “our” votes or make the argument that the Democratic Party has taken the African-American electorate for granted. Just remember this moment and others like it.
It’s not “necessarily” that Democrats have taken African-Americans for granted, as much it’s about Republicans who openly spit in the face of African-Americans and then allege we’re then “stupid” for voting Democrat.
Cause…effect.

Lester and Willie Tyler
If Chairman Steele isn’t “sophisticated enough” in his oratory to make the point that President Obama is a darling of the media without going “Magic Negro” on him, then yes…Rush Limbaugh IS in fact the leader of the Republican Party with his arm in the back of Steele, a la Willie Tyler and Lester.
I guess it wasn’t enough for Chairman Steele to publicly bow down to Rush Limbaugh, he now has to take his verbal cues from him too. He’s been punked not once…but twice now by Limbaugh. Neither Democrats nor Republicans respect him and the African-Americans who he ostensibly should be helpful in recruiting seem to loathe him now in ways his immediate predecessors (Ed Gillespie, Ken Mehlman and Mike Duncan) NEVER were.
Mission not accomplished.
Mo’Kelly takes all the nice things back he said about Steele. I admit it…I was wrong. And I will continue to let the RNC know at rnccommunications@rnchq.org

Republicans Play 'Magic Negro' Card – BRAVO!

Saltsman
If you were unsure of either why Republicans lost or why Republicans seemed out of touch with the American electorate, here is exhibit 1a. Although the politics of yesteryear, replete with racism and anti-Americanism clearly contributed to the demise of the Republican party in 2008, some folks clearly didn’t get the message.
Chip Saltsman, a candidate for RNC Chairman took it upon himself to send out a parody CD to RNC members, containing among others the song Barack the Magic Negro.
I’m going to forego the long, reasoned soliloquy and simply take the path of least resistance and respond with a singular question.
“Why?!”
“Why Chip…Why?”
Why in the world would anyone running to helm the Republican National Committee find it a good idea to associate him/herself in any way with the very politics leading to the demise of the party?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic with the level of Republican stupidity here…but it still begs the obvious question, “why?”
Of course, there are those will argue tooth and nail that the song is simply a parody, as are the others contained on it. But this “why” question doesn’t have anything to do with whether Saltsman “could” or “has the right” to send out a CD with/without racially insensitive material. The question is simply “why” in the world would you?
Bravo Neocons…keep on shooting your NRA selves squarely in the ass. Why wait until 2012 to ruin that election too?! You have to love the long-range planning vision of its potential “leadership.” Nothing like sinking the Republican party further into the abyss while campaigning for Chairman!
Why Chip…why?
ELECT CHIP SALTSMAN!
Why would you do it when given the tremendous failure of such tactics against Barack Obama, you Chip offer more of the same? Why would you do it when the moderates of the base were in no way galvanized and in fact were put off by such tactics? Instead of offering “new” (no, I won’t use the word “progressive), Chip instead offered the worst definition of conservatism. He reaffirmed that the Republican party is still not a party of inclusion and it is the still the same party which has waved the flag of Dixiecrat Republicanism since Strom Thurmond.
ELECT CHIP SALTSMAN!
For their short-sighted troubles, this multi-cultural America smacked them squarely in the mouth. Not that I’m mad about it, but it begs the simple question.
Why Chip…Why? (Rolling on the floor laughing)
Personally, I’m encouraged. If the RNC is silly enough to elect Saltsman, it only likely ensures the further failure of the party. Bravo Chip…Bravo.
(And P.S. Chipper…it’s “Mr. President” to you…)
ELECT CHIP SALTSMAN! Republican leadership ‘we’ need!
