The firing of FBI director James Comey was unprecedented in many ways. Although the director serves at the pleasure of the president, the FBI is still presently involved in investigating any connection between the Trump campaign and subsequent administration members and Russian authorities.

In short, it’s not whether the president had the power, just whether he used it wisely and not abusively.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions who had formerly recused himself from the Russia investigation, yet played a role in the firing of the individual heading up the organization responsible for the investigation in which he recused himself.

We debated that and more. This story (one of many) is just getting started and will dominate the headlines for the next week or so.
