Commentary — 22 January 2012

(Davis sits to immediate left of Mo'Kelly)

One of my former co-workers while at Warner Bros. Records, Kirkland Burke does a wonderful job updating those of us in the Black Music industry the news of those who might have passed on, yet not received the mainstream notoriety others may have.

Although the news has been dominated with tributes (and rightly so) to Etta James, I was saddened to read about the passing of Henry Davis of L.T.D.

Last June, I had the privilege and honor to speak to Henry and the other members of L.T.D. as they further prepared for a new music tour.

Below you will find possibly one of the last audio conversations of Davis, reflecting on the formation, importance and lasting impact of L.T.D. and his tremendous role in its legacy.
