Sherri Goforth of Anna, IL…This Clownin' Is For You
“Be careful what you ask for…you just might get it.”
In the course of Mo’Kelly doing what he does over the years, he usually makes more enemies than friends…such is the nature of the beast. Controversial topics, unpleasant issues…usually makes for many a hurt feeling or two in the process. But some things still hold true, irrespective of the subject or circumstances.
Not only should you be careful in what you ask for…you might just get it; but…
“It is not what you say it’s how you say it.”
Meet Sherri Goforth.
For that story Mo’Kelly attributed a picture to “Sherri Goforth.” Now Mo’Kelly is prone to make mistakes like anyone but at the same time, Mo’Kelly doesn’t respond well to demands or derisive statements from someone who ostensibly NEEDS something from Mo’Kelly.
Yes, if you NEED something (or even would like Mo’Kelly to do something) it is probably in one’s best interests to ask nicely. VERY nicely. You don’t demand Mo’Kelly to do anything on his blog.
Never…ever.
Unless your name is Almighty God or Almighty FBI…there had better be a bunch of “pretty pleases” with a heaping of “sugar on top.” As they say…
“You catch more flies with sugar than with s@#$.”
With that as a precursor…Mo’Kelly received the following email some 12 days ago…
|
|||||||||||||||||
Mr. Kelly:
The photo of Sherri Goforth on your website is NOT the woman from
Tennessee. It is a photo of a teacher from Illinois which was taken from
her school’s website. I know this because I am the woman in the photo.
Thanks to you, or someone on your staff, my picture is now attached to
this other woman’s story on several links.
I trust that my image will be promptly removed from your site and a retraction explaining the error will appear so that no further action on my part will be necessary.
In the future, please do your research.
Sincerely,
Sherri Goforth
_______________
“Be careful what you ask for…you just might get it.”
In all seriousness, if this “Sherri Goforth wasn’t completely insulting and a demanding idiot, Mo’Kelly would have been more than happy to make the correction.
More than happy.
But if “Illinois Goforth” would have “done her research”…she would have known that Mo’Kelly doesn’t take kindly to threats and demands; implied, veiled or otherwise.
If the presidents of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, BET and El DeBarge don’t scare Mo’Kelly with their threats, we can assume that a single, ignorant fool in Illinois doesn’t exactly make Mo’Kelly shiver in fear (yes Barbara McKinzie lives in Illinois too but we’re not dealing with that particular “ignorant fool in Illinois” on this occasion.)
And speaking of fools, if you should act a fool in a private email, you will subsequently get clowned publicly. If “Sherri” had “done her research,” she would have known this was coming and used better judgment before hitting “send.”
Sherri, you want your retraction…here you go!
“Be careful what you ask for…you just might get it.”
Mo’Kelly quickly responded, letting her know that she would not get her way by making ill-conceived demands and insults. In fact, in her original email she didn’t even offer any proof as to her assertions. Not that she knows anything about writing or journalism, but it’s a bit ill-advised to demand a retraction merely on the strength of an unfounded and unverified claim in an email.
“Dude, nobody landed on the moon, just believe me and take my word for it…I demand a retraction from The Washington Post right now.”
Uh…no, it doesn’t work that way “Illinois Goforth.” You should have better done your research.
So Mo’Kelly sent her to chase her tail…asked her for proof. Told her to complain to wordpress…knowing full well this blogsite was going bye-bye in weeks. She could’ve had her request honored in minutes, but instead, she forgot she was only an insignificant PTA member from the rural midwest. For her poorly conceived efforts, she got the gas face and sent on a wild goose chase.
“You catch more flies with sugar than s#^@.”

Here’s my proof…so unless your Sherri Goforth is moonlighting as a
seventh grade teacher in Southern Illinois I suggest you remove my picture
now!

Sherri Goforth
_________________
Is she REALLY trying to tell Mo’Kelly what to do and more importantly, WHEN to do it?
Oh no she didn’t!
“Illinois Sherri Goforth,” this is for you…silly rabbit.
Not that anyone is all that concerned about what the Tennessee GOP staffer “Sherri Goforth” looks like as opposed to the completely irrelevant educator somewhere in Illinois also named “Sherri Goforth”…
But since Illinois Goforth would like it “cleared up” Mo’Kelly is going to do what Mo’Kelly does. Sherri sets ‘em up…Mo’Kelly knocks ‘em down. She wants due research diligence from Mo’Kelly? Comin’ right up!
Y’all listen up. Hear ye, hear ye…
The photo above was NOT of the Tennessee GOP staffer as originally indicated here in The Mo’Kelly Report, it’s a photo of some heretofore unknown, unnamed, unimportant/irrelevant and largely ignorant teacher in the midwest portion of the United States. The real “Sherri Goforth” (i.e. Tennessee GOP) is halfway easy on the eyes. THIS “Sherri Goforth is…well…see for yourself. You make the call. This is the picture SHE sent as “proof,” so it’s the one which gets posted. Mo’Kelly removed the other pic, but Mo’Kelly can’t clear this up WITHOUT using the picture SHE sent, so up it goes! The picture is also on a PUBLIC website from a link SHE sent…up it goes!
Yes, “very flattering” are the words which came to my mind too (wink, wink). We’re in agreement.
According to her “proof” she works at:
Anna Jr High / Davie School
301 S. Green Street
Anna, IL 62906
phone (618) 833-6415
fax (618) 833-3205
She can be emailed at: csgo4th@shawneelink.net
In her free time she likes to finger paint, make cookies in her EasyBake oven and attends back-to-school night on occasion with lesson plans in tow; scribbled in crayon.
Hey, Mo’Kelly just wants everyone out there to absolutely clear…per HER wishes. Mo’Kelly is just sharing his thorough research, per her wishes. Sherri Goforth of Illinois is NOT savvy enough to hold employment within one of our two major political parties. She is a rather unsophisticated and mildly articulate “educator” from underdeveloped and backward Anna, Illinois…population 5,136.
Are we clear? Is anyone still unsure who is who? Goforth of Illinois doesn’t want to be confused with Goforth of Tennessee. Mo’kelly is just acquiescing to her wishes.
Any questions so far? Good…let’s keep going.
Allegedly “Illinois Goforth” is in charge of educating 7th graders…all 4 of them in the city of Anna. Judging by the faculty picture in her submitted link above, it is highly unlikely she’s had much involvement with African-Americans or African-American students…which might explain the hubris in believing Mo’Kelly takes orders from misguided and misinformed midwest middle school teachers. Such idiocy works in Anna, IL…but not in the big city

I have tried to get your cooperation on this. Now we’ll do it your way.
I’ve contacted wordpress.
I’ve contacted google.
And I’ve contacted my attorney.
No, not WordPress! Don’t throw Mo’Kelly in the WordPress Briar patch! Please don’t sick Google on Mo’Kelly, no not that! As for an attorney, if you wish to waste your Friday night bowling league money on a retainer to fight some links on Mo’Kelly’s website…knock yourself out. Personally you should be spending more time preparing to teach ALL FOUR of your 7th graders how to diagram sentences so they don’t end up in The Mo’Kelly Report later in life like “Illinois Goforth.”
Being belligerent is not “trying to get one’s cooperation.” Being belligerent is “trying” to get yourself teed up in The Mo’Kelly Report.
(Mo’Kelly pulls out his favorite driver…)
FORE!
As long as you needed something from Mo’Kelly, you should’ve checked yourself before you sat down at your keyboard. You “run” FOUR 7th graders in East Bumblef$%#. You don’t “run” anything here, you are fodder for jokes and laughs.
Know your place.
For your efforts “Illinois Goforth,” your “real” identity will now be known far and wide and this clowning will live on in perpetuity. Your name will ascend to heights only seen by the likes of El DeBarge, Wesley Snipes and Barbara McKinzie.
There’s your retraction Sherri Goforth. Nobody will EVER again mistake your photo for someone of importance or newsworthiness. Nobody will ever, ever again mistake you for the more attractive GOP staffer. Everybody now knows that the picture originally posted by Mo’Kelly isn’t even close to what you look like now…thanks to the updated and “flattering” picture. This post will forever serve as a reminder to disabuse any and all of that notion. Hope this “retraction” was as good for you as it was for Mo’Kelly.

Well, Jack, this is our Mo.
This woman was NOT polite. She was rude. Morris made an innocent mistake (there must be HOW many Sherri Goforths in America? Just these two?) and she accused him of not doing his research.
So when the New York Times gets a photo wrong, and they do…suddenly they don't do research?
Sherri stuck her face out and said "Please smack me because I'm rude."
And now she knows, Morris is willing to oblige.
I will say this: I don't know anybody else who would respond the way Mo did.
And that's part of what makes Mo who he is.
Jack, do you really have to run away to make your point?
After all, Mo did let your comment stand. He doesn't just dish it out, he can take it too.
Naw Walt,
I didn't let Jack's comment stand. I've been insulted here many times before…but when you resort to profanity and such that's something that always gets deleted. I can stand "ass" but not "asshole." I don't mind being insulted, not in the least. I do mind being told what to do here. I do mind (Sherri). I do mind being called "asshole"…multiple times on my blog. Sherri (and Jack) can call me what they like wherever they like other than here.
Goodbye Jack.
HA HA Mo Kelly!!! That was hilarious-needed that laugh this morning before starting work!
Morris,
He was profane.
I don't think he stopped to ask himself how he would have liked getting that email.
I had no trouble seeing the steam coming out of your ears.
My only complaint with this post is that nobody's going to even see mine
You made my day….they say laughter is good for the soul, lmbo!!!
WOW!!!!
Longtime lurker, first time poster. Don't know what Jack said but I disagree with your article. I think you need to learn what proportional response means, because you were really mean to her without needing to be.
Hi Rache Elle…I can fully respect that. And I'm sure this couldn't possibly be the first time you've disagreed with me if you're a longtime lurker. In no way do I find fault with you disagreeing, but since (as you very well know) that this is an entertainment site as much as an issues site…"proportional response" I'm not sure applies. I had two options, give her what she wanted, when and how she wanted…or give what what she wanted, when she wanted…but how I wanted.
I chose the latter. I fully accept that it was mean. She's neither my employer nor my friend. She's not my mother or my mentor. If your first communication with me is wholly insulting and condescending, I'm not sure the rules of war i.e. "proportional response" applies in a blog post.
I will email you Jack's comment.
The request was perfectly proper.
The tone was rude, period.
Hence, she got skooled.
There's a lesson in there for her somewhere.
Walt, wow, we're somewhat on the same side? How'd THAT happen?! I don't know what to do?
But seriously…you hit the nail on the head. It wasn't whether the request was proper or improper and she was well within her right to make the request.
I in turn was also well within my right to highlight her rudeness and then ridicule her for it.
Am I a jerk for doing it…probably. I'll still sleep like a baby and this surely won't happen again on her part. So mission accomplished on both accounts. Everybody knows she's not "Tennessee Sherri Goforth" and everybody knows "Mo'Kelly don't play that."
Sounds fair to me.
Morris,
It's your unpredictability and sense of bravado that make you who you are
Can you say what it was that was so rude, because I look her note over and over and I don't see what has your panties in a bunch.
I trust that my image will be promptly removed from your site
No problem there
and a retraction explaining the error will appear
No problem there.
so that no further action on my part will be necessary.
you could see this as a veiled threat to sue, but a cooler head would see it as someone legitimately upset. after all, internet content is forever and clearly she has been embarrassed by your mistake, and it may even hurt her reputation.
In the future, please do your research.
she says please. and she is correct in that you did not do your research.
I think this is a pretty big overreaction on your part and hiding behind the claim that this is an entertainment site as an excuse to be mean and insulting does not wash with me. i think a private note telling her that you think she is rude is a good response, and an admission of error.
hate to say it, not that you care, but she comes out looking better here than you do. my 2 cents.
The entire tone was, shall we say, over-officious.
Seriously, let's try this:
"
Hey, Morris, nice site you've got there. You're not going to believe this, but there is more than one Sherri Goforth in the world! As it turns out, the picture you found for your article was of me, the *other* one
Innocent mistake on your part – and completely understandable.
I'd be grateful if you would take it down. My friends keep asking me how I got involved in Tennessee politics!
Thanks a bunch,
Sherri
"
See the difference?
The lady was a beeyatch and she got shpanked.
how 'bout this instead?
Hey, Morris, I'm really upset about something. You put my picture next to an article bashing a woman who isn't me. Now it's all over the internet and I'm catching a lot of flak for it because people think its me. You really messed up things for me. I have to tell you that you did a lousy job researching and now I'm the one paying the price. Get that picture off the site immediately. I'd also appreciate an apology.
sincerely etc etc.
you don't take into account that her life may have been turned upside down by this whole thing. you assume she is okay making smiley faces when she may be real angry.
she was not a bitch. show me the line where she is being a bitch.
"

Mr. Kelly: {gets the name wrong}
The photo of Sherri Goforth on your website is NOT the woman from Tennessee. It is a photo of a teacher from Illinois which was taken from
her school’s website. I know this because I am the woman in the photo. {OK so far, but ALLCAPS assumes you can't read}
Thanks to you, or someone on your staff, my picture is now attached to this other woman’s story on several links. {OK}
I trust that my image will be promptly removed from your site and a retraction explaining the error will appear so that no further action on my part will be necessary. {Here is where it goes all wrong. All she has to say is "So, I'd appreciate if you would take the picture down and provide an explanation to your readers." Instead she uses "promptly" as though Mo would, left to his own shif'less self, dawdle. She then not-so-subtly warns him that she is prepared to take this further, again with no hint at all that Mo intends to give her any such reason. It also implies that she is somehow important enough to have been damaged by this error, and that she has the wherewithal to act on it. "Overly officious" is me being kind. "Stuffed shirt" gets a little closer. "Egomaniac" may also apply.}
In the future, please do your research. {Mo may have let the whole thing go until this happened. Again: How many Sherri Goforths are in America today? Perhaps just these two? What could be a more honest mistake than that? And does Sherri understand that these sorts of things happen routinely, even to places like the New York Times? Would Sherri be implying that they don't fo their research, either? This last, gratuitous line was incredibly beeyatchy, just completely over the top. It was as if she hadn't been quite mean enough, so let's just make sure bad boy gets the point. Mo got the point.}
Sincerely,
Sherri Goforth
"
"her life may have been turned upside down by this"?
Were you going for humor there?
And just asking: Are you a sock puppet? It's fine with me if you are, but why not say so?
I cannot believe the torment that you are bringing an innocent person who is only asking for you to clarify her identity. You must be miserable and unhappy if your mission in life is to cyber bully. Wow! Thats really brave to attack people through the internet. What a loser!
@J Smith…are you saying that I didn't clarify her identity? Is there something that's still unclear? Should I have gone further?
Don't these stupid people know anything about internet laws..once your picture is in the public domain, you cant sue someone else for using it…ain't bout shit she can do about it. This article was funny as all get out though. Way to go MO'!
T4…you are absolutely correct. I can't count how many times people have threatened to sue me. The picture wasn't under copyright and there was no trademark infringement. End of discussion. If she thought "saying" that she called her attorney carried weight, that's on her. I hope she did, hope she paid money for a retainer or consultation and then found out there's nothing she can do.
She should have better done her research.
It is actually odd that people read your blog and feel that it is going to matter that they disagree. They can do one of two things. 1) NOT read or follow it. or 2) Accept what they see and get over it, or see the humor. ITS A BLOG PEOPLE!!!! I mean really… Do they think you will stop discussing controversial issues? Gosh.. We don't always agree with other's opinions.
Do your thing Mo Kelly!
I feel a second post coming on…
"Round 2, in which it is demonstrated that every rant against Mo'Kelly in this thread came from the same ip address…"
This whole thing will die down in a day or two, if Sherri has the sense to let it.
And maybe learn a lesson about pushing the "rude" button by default.
As we say in my house: "Oops, for her."
Mo,
Did you really have to annihilate her like that? Wow! Personally, I thought you went a little overboard, just a little. But I would love to see you make an article on Jack's comments and just clown him for that ish he posted.
@Downindixie…
No, I won't elevate Jack's comments to that level. One can disagree with what I did and not find humor in it…but what he did was way beyond the pale…especially for something he was not involved. I found it more than slightly odd for anyone to take such personal umbrage and respond in such a vile way to a blog post unrelated to him in any way.
I saw no need to engage him or his comments…just bid him goodbye. He was vulgar.
Mo, I loved your response. Her tone was rude and completely inappropriate.
BTW, thanks for all of your support with WI8. Will we see you in St. Louis next month at our Boule?
@Diamond…no I won't be in St. Louis but yes, closely following it. As for Sherri Goforth…it's clear there are those who agree with me and those who don't. In the end it comes down to this…
This is not a democracy it's a dictatorship. You don't come at the evil dictator sideways and demand something…otherwise it's off with your head. And to Walt's point, it's what makes this place "different" (for better or for worse) than other places.
If you've followed this blog for any amount of time, you know the history of El DeBarge or Claudia Jordan or Lisa Raye's publicist. If you think you can insult me through email, you're leaving yourself open for a PUBLIC rebuttal.
And for those who say "did I have to undress her like that" or something close to that…I simply say "did she have to come at me like that in the first place?"
My microphone was bigger than hers. Those are the breaks.
She started it…I finished it. I'm sure she's with her "lawyer" right now trying to craft some "defamation" suit. I look forward to hearing from her lawyer.
Jack also accused Mo of bias.
Anybody here consider that a news flash?
Yes I'm biased…it's an EDITORIAL site, not a NEWS service. It's what MO'KELLY thinks…with certain facts and news events as the starting point for the conversation. It's NOT a wire service. If Jack just recently found that out I'm sorry that wasn't more clear. I thought the sign hanging on the door when he entered was a dead giveaway.
Guess not.
And since we keep referencing Jack's comments. I'm going to re-post them here so everyone has the benefit of knowing exactly to what we're referencing. Under no other circumstances would this stand.
__________________
___________
Newsflash, there was nothing "polite" about her email. On that we should all agree. And we should also agree that Jack is Sherri's brother, because clearly the only one who went Bat-shit here was Jack.
I retract what I said. A more careful reading of Jack's last paragraph indicates that he was concerned that OTHERS might accuse Mo of piggish fat-headed assholeishness.
Not quite the same thing.
No, you read it correctly. He feigned concern. He accused me of what he was "concerned about" and then promptly left…because he believed it. You read him correctly.
I'm just confused about what the hell he meant.
We all get mad sometimes, as he did, then it passes.
I don't know how to stay permanently mad. Sounds like a lot of work.
If he didn't personally buy into what he said, he wouldn't have grabbed him marbles and cried all the way home. He took and showed his personal umbrage in his note.
Wow Anna, IL. I have no fond memories of that place. I went to school near Anna, IL. in a town called Carbondale. To the African American students that attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Anna became known as A.N.N.A. (Ain't no N***** Allowed) That town has a history of craziness!
So a random white woman who is a teacher in Illinois should do her reasearch on some random black man blogging on the internet? Can we say delusions of grandeur, LOL!!!
Yes, she should. Otherwise, she wouldn't have made her request in the manner she did. And she wouldn't have ended up on this blog…with you commenting. You're spending your time here. I didn't come visit you. And I assure you of this…she's not "random" anymore, thanks to me.
And if I were so "random" (read: insignificant) Allan, why did she reach out to me in the first place? Why did you comment? Exactly, you prove my points. Come back soon…I know you will.
