This is the senatorial “equivalent” of going gangsta…telling your colleague of more years and experience in the senate to in effect…sitchoass down! Now THAT’s a way to end a Republican filibuster. Tell ‘em to shut up!
Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT) gets slapped around (senatorial style) and then John McCain (R-AZ) jumps in and then it’s a free for all…

Of course we understand that this is about Lieberman flying off the reservation and threatening to hold up the health care bill by himself.
It's just a shame that what could be the most significant domestic initiative in our lifetimes is so poorly understood and has devolved into such high stakes confrontations. The above is far from the worst of what's being said back and forth.
I'm afraid that Obama is going to get his big "win" and then spend the rest of his term defending it, which will be tough to do when most of it doesn't even kick in for several years.
The irony of Sen McCain's statement in this vid was shown in a vid I found on Youtube. It's a clip from an episode of Rachel Maddow's show, in which she says that congressional records show that Sen McCain at one time did to another senator exactly what he just said he'd never seen before and thought was wrong.

It's possible that MSNBC is making it up to poke fun at McCain, but it also seems pretty confirmable. If I know how or where to look up congressional transcripts, I would.
Update: Again, according to Rachel Maddow's show on MSNBC, CSPAN has restored the recording of the incident in question. So now, vid of Sen Dayton asking for 30 seconds more time and audio of Sen McCain objecting to that is available in CSPAN's archives.

Sen. John McCain: The Lost Episode of a Hypocrite!
Whether McCain honestly couldn't remember doing this himself, or Sen McCain was "exaggerating" for political reasons, either explanation exemplifies bad character traits in a President. Aren't you glad he lost?
